UNAPPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY June 12th, 2019, 9:18 AM ROLL CALL JIM BURGESS JANICE NEAGLE DIXIE CHAPMAN DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: BreAnna gave an update on the past suggestion cards. RE: TNT BreAnna Monk stated that Kay Morgan has been the Ultimate TNT shopper, cook, teacher, instructor and organizer. Kay has done a wonderful job with TNT and wanted to honor her on behalf of the Board. BreAnna presented Kay with a thank you card, flowers and gift card. Kay said she was thankful for the wonderful help she had making TNT a success. RE: County Commission Jim Burgess let the Board know that today the County Commission will determine if he gets a second term on the Aging Council. RE: Sedgwick County Board Meeting BreAnna stated Jim Burgess wanted the DSC Advisory Board to attend a Sedgwick County Board meeting on the 15th and it got rescheduled. An email with a video was sent and BreAnna watched it. RE: Exercise Class Talking BreAnna said she has not yet made it to the exercise class where the talking was taking place. BreAnna said she will visit the Zumba class. Diane Schmitt suggested BreAnna speak with the instructor also. RE: Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer 1 BreAnna said the Pledge of Allegiance and Prayer are now being said at the beginning of Covered Dish, Birthday Celebration and several other activities. RE: Massage Room Doors BreAnna stated the Massage Room doors are being kept open on all days that the Massage Therapist is not in the office. RE: Playing Card Bingo BreAnna said Laura Friend the Activity Coordinator is working on Playing Card Bingo. RE: Progressive Bingo Cleaning Crew BreAnna said that the Progressive Bingo cleaning crew has been talked to and they will no longer clean up during Bingo. RE: Rowing Machine Riser BreAnna said she is looking at a safe way to raise the rowing machine. RE: RSVP Contract Diane Schmitt asked BreAnna if she has heard back on the RSVP Contract. BreAnna said it is still pending. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report May 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for May 2019. The expenses for May totaled $915.85 and the revenue totaled $373 with an ending balance $11,537.47. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report for May 2019. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve May 8, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the May 8, 2019 minutes. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried 2 Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve May 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the May 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program had a donation of $100 and $50 was used for an ending balance of $2,052. Discussion was held. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for May 2019. Diane Schmitt seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: TNT BreAnna gave the May 2019 TNT report. Agenda Item #6 RE: Covered Dish Chicken Covered Dish Lunch July 4 – Canceled due to Holiday. Covered Dish Lunch August 1 – Tom Davidson Agenda Item #7 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession and the Supplies reports with the Board. Discussion was held. BreAnna gave an update on the Sesquicentennial Progressive Bingo that will take place at the Venue on July 4th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Discussion was held. Agenda Item #8 RE: Center Updates BreAnna told the Board there were no new center updates this month. Agenda Item #9 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards 3 BreAnna read the suggestion / comment cards to the Board and discussion was held. Agenda Item #10 RE: Fundraising Letter Update BreAnna told the Board the donation letter proceeds are $6,530 and there were no additional donations this month.
