APPROVED MINUTES SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF DERBY September 11, 2019, 9:10 AM ROLL CALL JIM BURGESS JANICE NEAGLE DIXIE CHAPMAN DIANE SCHMITT, TREASURER TOM DAVIDSON, SECRETARY ELEANOR UNDERWOOD, CHAIR DUANE DAY, VICE CHAIR CITY STAFF KIEL MANGUS - ABSENT BREANNA MONK KIM HART Public Forum Agenda Item #1 RE: SHICK BreAnna let the Board know they are gearing up for the SHICK season. There is a Derby waiting list for people who are wanting to schedule appointment once the schedule is made. Jim Burgess stated there is training for the new software on Medicare Part D. BreAnna said they can have a training session in her office preferably next week. RE: SHICK Jim Burgess invited the Board to attend a presentation he will be giving for the AARP Sedgwick County at 10:00 AM Wednesday September 18th at Botanica. BreAnna said AARP people from Botanica came by and she gave them an extensive tour of the senior center. BreAnna suggested to them that the Derby Senior Center become a hub. RE: Ken Peoples BreAnna stated there is a new part time Derby Dash Driver and his name is Ken Peoples. Ken started driving on Monday September 9th. BreAnna asked the Board members to introduce themselves if they see him. RE: Patsy White BreAnna explained that Patsy White resigned from her position at the senior center. She has accepted a job with a new employer. RE: Sharon Brooks 1 BreAnna let the Board know Sharon is one of the Volunteer Coordinators and she is resigning from her position on September 16th so there will be an opening for that position. Agenda Item #2 RE: Advisory Board Fund Report August 2019. Diane Schmitt gave the report for August 2019. The revenue totaled $217, expenses totaled $988.18, with an ending balance $10,630.90. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Advisory Board Fund Report for August 2019. Janice Neagle seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #3 RE: Approve August 14, 2019 minutes. MOTION: Jim Burgess made a motion to approve the August 14, 2019 minutes with a correction he pointed out. Tom Davidson seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #4 RE: Approve August 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report BreAnna gave the August 2019 Derby Dash Scholarship Report. $0 were used for senior scholarships which leaves an ending balance of $131. BreAnna said the non-senior Derby Dash Scholarship Program used $250, for an ending balance of $998. Discussion was held. MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to approve the Derby Dash Scholarship Report for August 2019. Dixie Chapman seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #5 RE: Covered Dish Chicken Covered Dish Lunch October 3rd – Janice Neagle Covered Dish Lunch November 7th – Eleanor Underwood Agenda Item #6 2 RE: Progressive Bingo Concessions BreAnna reviewed the Progressive Bingo Concession and the Supplies reports with the Board. BreAnna said the concession expense for August was $35.69 and Revenue was $89.50 for a balance of (174.09). The Progressive Bingo Card Sales Revenue was $815 with a payout of $679.50. The balance in Progressive Bingo Supplies after expenses of $43.20 is $3,000.86. Discussion was held. MOTION: Tom Davidson made a motion for the Progressive Bingo Jack Pot to be reset with a starting amount of $200. Dixie Chapman seconded. VOTE: 6 yea, motion carried Agenda Item #7 RE: Center Updates BreAnna told the Board there were no center updates in the month of August. BreAnna stated that she had been approached by Larry Gould about building a new and improved Technology Lab. BreAnna informed the Board she was already doing research on this. Agenda Item #8 RE: Suggestions / Comment Cards BreAnna reviewed the suggestion / comment cards with the Board. Discussion was held. ADJOURNMENT MOTION: Duane Day made a motion to adjourn.
