Car Theft Problem Commissioner Lavy inquired about the current increase of car thefts. Steven Shaw, Deputy Chief of Police, informed the Commission on updates and precautions the Police Department is taking regarding the increase of car thefts. Council Member Betts suggested that the Commission gather a plan to try to help the Police Department start-up a specialized team that focuses on car thefts. Chief Henson spoke on pending legislation laws that could affect the City. Recommendation: Hold a Special Public Safety Commission meeting to review pending state legislation laws. Chairman Meyer explained some former passed legislation bills that have affected Riverside County. The Commission discussed legislative bills 262 and 333. Chairman Meyer agendized New Design for Police Department presentation for the next Public Safety Commission meeting. The Hotel had been ordered to immediately cease operations following an order to revoke their business license and conditional use permit. Upon the inspection, she found the property to be still operational and in violations of numerous CA Health and Safety Codes, municipal codes, and CA Building Codes. The Building Official issued a red-tag, caution tapped, and their poos locked. A notice of public nuisance and order to abate was issued to the property owner. • Code Compliance Officer Brock conducted an inspection during a special event held at a Cannabis Storefront retail facility on August 13th. She ensured that the facility followed state and local laws and regulations. • Compliance Manager Newsom met with the new owner of the fire-damaged property at 11360 Palm Dr. to discuss the ongoing violations and his intentions with the property. • Code Compliance Officer Human re-inspected the property at 66775 Yucca Dr. The property owner removed the tenant and made several corrections regarding the property maintenance.
