BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS CITY OF DOTHAN, ALABAMA SPECIAL CALLED MEETING DECEMBER 21, 2018 The Board of Commissioners of the City of Dothan, Alabama, met in a special called meeting in the Commission Chambers of the Roy Driggers Municipal Building at 4:30 p.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 with the following members present: Mayor Mark Saliba, Associate Commissioners Janasky Fleming, John Ferguson, and David Crutchfield. Commissioners Kevin Dorsey, Albert Kirkland, and Beth Kenward were absent. Also present were City Clerk Tammy Danner, Assistant City Clerk Wendy Shiver, who recorded the Minutes of the Meeting, and the local news media representatives. City Manager Mike West was absent. Mayor Saliba called the meeting to order. Pastor Delvick McKay, Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, then led in prayer, afterwhich Commissioner Crutchfield led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mayor Saliba introduced Resolution No. 2018-354 (recorded in Ordinance Book No._______at Page_______), amending Res. No. 2018-340, entering into a Professional Services contract with Michael West, to change the effective date to January 20, 2019 and appointing Dothan Utilities Director Billy Mayes or Fire Chief Larry Williams as Acting City Manager in the absence of Mike West, beginning January 1, 2019. Commissioner Crutchfield moved for adoption, motion seconded by Commissioner Ferguson. Mayor Saliba said we were contacted by the Retirement Systems of Alabama who suggested the contract be amended to keep us in compliance with an Internal Revenue Service rule that there be one pay period between the retirement date and the beginning of the new contract. There being no further discussion, the resolution was unanimously adopted.
