Community and Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, May 13, 2024 6:00 PM Present: Councilpersons Ben Bell, Elizabeth Wyckoff, and Larry Browne, Borough Manager John Davis, and Recreation and Special Events Coordinator Caitlin Hernandez. Approval of March 11, 2024 Minutes. Minutes were approved as submitted. Youth Leadership Recognition Award. The group clarified nominations are open to Borough residents, and they reviewed the current nominees. The two applicants chosen, pending confirmation, were Brandon Horak and Riley Smith. Economic Development Report. Caitlin reviewed some of the retail and restaurant changes in the Borough, including several new stores and eateries. Social Media Report. Caitlin reviewed the continued increase in social media interaction and positive feedback on the Borough's spotlight on local restaurants and businesses. New/Old Business. Larry suggested the Borough return to mailing newsletters and brought information to the Committee from an outside entity who could produce and generate the mailings. The Committee will continue that discussion. In response to questions from Larry, the Committee discussed the shared calendars where all Borough events are posted. Caitlin will share the Parks and Recreation calendar with members, which shows all of that information. The Committee continued its discussion on providing residents with varied multimedia tools, called "How Doylestown Borough Works" to explain our local government processes.
