Community and Government Affairs Committee Meeting Minutes Monday, June 9, 2025 6:00 PM Present: Councilpersons Ben Bell, Elizabeth Wyckoff, Connor O"Hanlon, and Larry Browne, as well as Parks and Recreation Director Caitlin Hernandez, Councilmember Amy Popkin, and Borough Manager John Davis. Approval of April 2025 Minutes. Minutes were approved as submitted. Concerts at the Commons. Ben reviewed the success of the previous concerts, and Caitlin shared details on plans for additional concerts this Fall as well as 2026. Fundraising discussions will continue at the next meeting. Borough Arborist. John explained the process of appointing an arborist at such time a new one is required. John's suggestion is to add the appointment/reappointment of a Borough arborist to the Council schedule every two years. A draft job description has been generated to discuss and review for future use. Septa Funding. John shared details he received regarding the request for public transportation funding from municipalities across Pennsylvania. Connor shared his support for the cause. The Committee voted unanimously to forward this to Borough Council to consider a resolution regarding the critical need for further funding. Economic Development Report. Caitlin reviewed several commercial vacancies in the Borough, as well as a handful of new and changing businesses. John shared the upcoming subdivision application for the former Stryker Soccer building on State Street. Social Media Report. Caitlin reviewed the continued increase in social media interaction on all platforms and positive feedback on the Borough's activities. The Memorial Day Parade was a huge success, and Borough events are being met with excitement and a lot of participation. New/Old Business. Michael Nussbaum attended the meeting to discuss the possibility of holding a benefit concert for mental health treatment fundraising on behalf of the Heidi Schlenzig Foundation: Healing and Hope. He shared the focus of his organization which is based on treatment-resistant borderline personality disorder and the lack of appropriate treatment options. He will reach out to Caitlin, who will help to direct them on getting involved here in the Borough. Meeting Adjourned. 7:00pm Respectfully submitted, Amy Kramer Minutes Secretary
