Economic Development Advisory Board Meeting Minutes Thursday, September 12, 2024 – 5:00 p.m. Members Present: Brian Guerriero, John West, Kris Boger, Matt Reice, and Recreation Director Caitlin Hernandez The meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. Caitlin announced that Otto Mills, the board chair, officially stepped down and will no longer chair this meeting. Approval of Minutes: Minutes were tabled as there was no quorum of members present. Mayor’s Stewardship Award: 278 W. Oakland Avenue won the Stewardship Award. Survey Discussion: Caitlin had no feedback on survey options, so she had no information to share with the group. Comprehensive Plan Update: None Discover Doylestown Project: The Arts Fest was a success despite the rain. 206 independent artists were present and selling their wares. We think we had somewhere between 35,000 and 40,000 people attend the event. Kris currently has no statistics on the bike race. Parking was a challenge, as it always is. The DART was utilized heavily, although not as much as in past years. The general feedback is overall positive. Doylestown Cultural District Report: None Doylestown Historical Society Report: A representative let the members know the DHS sidewalk sale will be on 9/28 and will coincide with the Revolutionary Pub Crawl. Benjamin Franklin will be present for the crawl. Social Media Report: Caitlin updated the Board on the Borough’s various social media channels. Economic Development Report: Caitlin presented the updated economic development report, which shared the current vacancy rate and new businesses opening in town. DART Report: None Mayor’s Report: None Old/New Business: Under Old Business, Brian wanted to discuss the aesthetics of how signs in the historic district are used. He referred to the Mosquito Grill and the vape shop on W. State Street. He wanted to know how this worked with HARB since both businesses are in the historic overlay. He also wants to know if the EDAB can send a letter to the Borough Council to encourage them to enforce the zoning ordinance regarding temporary or permanent signs. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:39 pm. Respectfully Submitted by: Erika Fellman Economic Development Advisory Board Minutes Secretary
