Environmental Advisory Council

EAC April 15, 2025, Minutes Members in Attendance: David Reidel, Grant Alger, Jason Wood, Dan Ford, Steve Nelson, Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Parks and Recreation, and Karyn Hyland, Planning and Zoning Director. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:33 pm. Approval of Minutes, March 18, 2025: The minutes were approved as submitted. Earth Day: Caitlin updated the members with the plans for the Earth Day celebration. Caitlin reviewed the setup for vendors and organizations in the park and the kids' activity locations. The logistics of the day were discussed, too. Loose ends were tied up, and everything is ready for the April 26, 2025, event. Reports: Farmer’s Market/Outreach & Communication: The market opens this weekend and is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The EAC will be at the May Farmer’s Market on May 17. Jason verified which members will be at the Market each month. At the May meeting of the EAC, the members will discuss a topic for the June Farmers’ Market. DCAP: Steve provided a brief update on the Climate Action Plan. Some final editing and formatting need to be done, and he is optimistic that it will be able to be reviewed at the May meeting of the EAC and then sent on to the Planning Commission. Bird Town: Grant shared an update regarding a $1,000 grant for Bird Towns around the Commonwealth. There are plans for a Migration Day event on May 17. Index of Open Areas: Dan has nothing new to report. Park Habitat Enhancement Plan: Dan is working on the plan and finalizing his report for the EAC. Staff Report: Karyn provided the staff report regarding the new sustainability position, solar panels at Borough Hall, and Fonthill. Old/New Business: We have one open seat on the EAC. The Planning Commission has no members available to act as the liaison. The opening will be advertised.
