Environment and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Thursday, March 5, 2026, 6:00 PM Present: Committee Members Liz Wyckoff (Chairperson), Ben Bell (via Zoom), Dennis Livrone (via Zoom), and Connor O’Hanlon (via Zoom). Also present were Parks and Recreation Chair James Lannon, Finance Director Caroline Brinker, Director of Recreation Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Planning and Zoning Karyn Hyland, and Recreation Director Cailtin Hernandez. The Minutes from February 5, 2026, were approved as submitted. DAA Volleyball Agreement: Caitlin briefed the Committee on updates to the DAA volleyball lease. The main changes were setting expectations for court maintenance and imposing a hard deadline for DAA to provide us with their schedule, given the courts' very high demand. A motion was made to ask Council to approve the lease (Bell/O’Hanlon). Authorization to Advertise Bids for Fanny Chapman Pool Concrete Work: Caroline shared a draft advertisement to solicit bids for concrete work at Fanny Chapman Pool. A motion was made to authorize an advertisement for bids for Fanny Chapman Pool concrete work (Wyckoff/Livrone). Composting Discussion: Karyn wanted to gauge interest in an EAC initiative to provide composting for residents who wish to participate. The Borough’s role will be limited to providing the compost receptacles and finding a business that will collect the waste. A program will need to be developed. Karyn is seeking feedback from the Committee on this potential program. All members of the Committee agree that this is a good program and that it should move forward with the EAC. Earth Day: The event will take place on April 25, 2026, from 10:00-1:00. 10 confirmed organizations will participate. Arbor Day events will be consolidated with the Earth Day activities. Egg Hunt: The egg hunt has expanded slightly. It will be on April 4, 2026, and it will be a rain-or-shine event. Registration will open on March 12, 2026, for residents and on March 16, 2026, for non-residents. Volunteers are needed for this event. Old/New Business: Caitlin shared an updated concept plan for Burpee Pavilion. Caitlin wanted to hear feedback from Committee members on the proposed updates. Under the New Business topic, the Art of Living Foundation approached the Mayor to request use of Council Chambers for guided meditation and to explore future partnerships. As there was no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:22 pm (Livrone/Bell). Respectfully submitted, Erika Fellman Minutes Secretary
