Human Relations Commission Meeting

Borough of Doylestown Human Relations Commission Wednesday, April 26, 2023 - 7pm Attendance: Freda Savana, Fred Stanczak, Maxine Katz, Stephen Albert, John Fraser, Stephanie O"Mara, Chris Baccash, Nancy Reilly, and Doreen Stratton, as well as Borough Manager John Davis. The Minutes of the March 2023 meeting were approved as submitted. Anti-Bullying Forum: Moderator Danny Thomas of the Bucks Peace Center and NOVA panelist Mary Worthington were discussed. Old/New Business: A community resident attended to share her concerns with social media groups and the current discussions in the community regarding the Central Bucks School Board and the political climate. She is concerned with political signs being stolen from Borough properties and asked the HRC to share a message asking for more understanding and inclusion within the community. Mary Kringle, resident, attended the meeting as well, and discussed her concerns regarding the current tone in the community. Several incidents were shared. Vonna Dearmond shared her thoughts on bullying, her desire for the community to continue conversations and encourage more understanding and inclusivity. She plans to attend the upcoming anti-bullying forum and agreed it's a great idea. Fred Stanczak reviewed the goals of the Human Relations Commission and thanked the community members for attending to share their thoughts and concerns. Meeting adjourned: 8:00 pm.
