DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH SHADE TREE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES May 9, 2023 The regular meeting of the Doylestown Borough Shade Tree Commission was held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Doylestown Borough Hall, 10 Doyle Street. Members of the Commission in attendance were: Lisa Moscherosch, Jean Weston, Carter VanDyke, and Baldev Lamba. Also in attendance were Borough Arborist, Bob McMullin, Building & Zoning Director, Karyn Hyland, Park and Recreation Director, Dave Burger and Applicants, Jessica May, and Richard Shaddinger. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM. MINUTES APPROVAL: Minutes from the March meeting were approved by those in attendance. (Weston/VanDyke) SUBDIVISION/LAND DEVELOPMENT: None PERMIT APPLICATIONS: 61 N. Church Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Japanese Maple. (VanDyke/Lamba) Recommended Approval 46 Meadow Lane Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Blue Spruce. (VanDyke/Weston) Recommended Approval 661 N. Chubb Drive Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Apple Tree. (VanDyke/Weston) Recommended Approval 205 Shewell Avenue Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 3 Ash Trees. (VanDyke/Weston) Recommended Approval 807 N. Broad Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Maple. (VanDyke/Weston) Recommended Approval 73 N. Hamilton Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Norway Maple and 1 Silver Maple. (Moscherosch/VanDyke) Recommended Approval 421 North Street Commission approved the issuance of a permit for removal of 1 Birch. (Weston/Lamba) Recommended Approval NEW/OLD BUSINESS: Hyland reported that the Planning Commission was meeting on May 20th, which is a Saturday. They are trying a weekend to accommodate residents who cannot come to the night meetings. They will continue to meet and do workshop sessions with the residents on the topics from the survey. Burger showed the members of the Commission how to navigate the TreeKeeper Site. He explained the purpose of the website and how Doylestown Borough and the Shade Tree Commission can benefit from using it. VanDyke recommended to the Commission that they come up with a plan on how to identify what locations are in need of street trees, possibly going street to street and bringing back that information to the Shade Tree Commission, at which time they will discuss how many trees are needed and what species would be planted. ARBORIST REPORT: None ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting was adjourned at 7:36 PM.
