Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, February 4, 2025 – 7:00 p.m.
Gary Harris, James Lannon, Robert Huether, Molly Crotty, Matthew Reece, and Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Parks and
Recreation, were present.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
The minutes from the January 7, 2025, meeting were approved as amended.
The Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 12, 2025, from 10:00 am until noon; the rain date will be April 13, 2025. We have
added 85 additional spaces this year for 285 participants. The age group age range will be adjusted to allow for more
younger children to participate. Registration will start on March 22, 3 weeks before the event. There will be another
sensory-friendly space, too. Class Harlan sponsored the event again.
Caitlin gave the Budget Update. Two tennis courts at Neis will be resurfaced this year, and Burpee Pickleball will be
resurfaced this year. Public Works will be doing these projects. The Pump Track will be paved this year. We set aside
$15,000 in the budget and must raise another $35,000. The Fanny Chapman basketball courts will be repaired this year,
too.
Caitlin wanted to discuss the Park and Rec Facebook Page with the Board. It has become somewhat redundant, and Caitlin
wants to know if the Board feels it is important to continue maintaining it. The Board discussed the topic and decided to
eliminate the page.
Caitlin provided the Recreation Director Report. The bocce court is still on hold due to the weather. Discussions have been
held about the Waterworks building at Fanny Chapman. Some portions of the building are slated for demolition, but some
may be able to be saved. Depending on this, a pavilion on the back side facing the volleyball courts will be added. Sherry
will lead the Scenic strolls, and Sun Dog Yoga will return for the early morning sessions. Summer programs have been set
up, and sponsorship letters have been sent out.
The Board members discussed adding additional programs offered. Caitlin would like to see more utilization of our spaces.
Caitlin suggested offering nature-based programming. Many different models of programming can occur. We could
partner with an organization that has an already established program and work together, like our DAA partnership.
The Bike and Hike path will be started this year. It will go down Green Street by the Scout Cabin into the Township along
Pebble Hill Road. We are in phase one of the project, and the Township is in phase two.
James gave the Comprehensive Plan Update and shared a final copy of the plan. The plan will be unveiled to the public
on February 11, 2025. The public comment window will close on March 16. On Monday, March 17, the Council will adopt
the plan.
Old/New Business Under Old Business, the Board discussed Joe Montone's proposed Summer Concert series and its
status. Caitlin filled everyone in on the logistics behind the scenes and hopes we can sign a contract with him this month.
Caitlin also shared an update on the craft workshop proposal. She took the proposal to the ERC, which is on board with
someone hosting a craft workshop at Borough Hall. Once Caitlin has more information from the potential host, this may
be an agenda topic for March.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
