Park and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, January 7, 2025 – 7:00 p.m. Gary Harris, James Lannon, Karissa Elser, and Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Parks and Recreation, were present. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes from the December 3, 2024 meeting were approved as amended. Caitlin provided the Skate Park follow-up. Doylestown Township believes Central Park is fully programmed, with no space for a skate park. John Davis is working to connect this group with Buckingham Township as well. Caitlin gave a Concert proposal. This proposal will be presented to the Finance Committee later this week for approval. There is potential for sponsorship to offset the Borough's costs. Joe Montone of Stage United will fund the cost of bands, sound, lights, staging, etc. Caitlin hopes to have more concrete answers by February’s meeting. Caitlin also gave the Recreation Director’s Report. Drainage is complete at Wood Street Park. Due to weather conditions, work is on hold. Caitlin shared she met with the owner of Fred Astaire Dance Studio. She is proposing a pop-up dance lesson and teaching swing dance steps. One location option is Plaza West, but Caitlin thinks Broad Commons is better. Council member Amy Popkin would like to host a community picnic. The Park and Rec board suggested Chapman Park as an ideal location for an event like this. Caitlin also mentioned she will include the Bike and Hike report as part of the Rec Director’s report moving forward since Liz Wyckoff is on Council now, and there is no need for it to be a separate report. James gave the Comprehensive Plan Update. The document will be shared with the volunteer boards and commissions at a meeting on January 14, 2025, at 7:00 pm.
