Park and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, September 2, 2025 – 7:00 p.m. James Lannon, Gary Harris, Doreen McVaugh, Bob Huether, Patrick McCauley, Molly Crotty, Tucker Brennan, Council Members Liz Wyckoff and Dennis Livrone, and Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Parks and Recreation, were present. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes from the June 3, 2025, meeting were approved as submitted. A local scout, Kira Kennedy, along with her father, Jeffrey Kennedy, presented her Eagle Scout project, which involved installing 12 bat boxes in various borough-owned parks throughout the town. She provided a detailed timeline of the project and addressed the Board’s questions regarding the location of the boxes. The Board voted in support of the project, and Borough staff will work with Kira to determine the next steps for the project. Caitlin provided the Park Tour Recap. Caitlin will share more options for a stage in Broad Commons at the October meeting. Caitlin’s vision is a stage area that incorporates itself into the existing park aesthetic, rather than something from a catalog. Caitlin discussed possible renovations to the pavilion at Burpee Park, including the addition of an accessible restroom. James and Caitlin shared Concert Fundraising Ideas. James would like to create a page on the website to thank individual private donors for their contributions to the concerts. He would also like to investigate the option of accepting digital donations to go towards the ongoing concert series. Various digital options, including Venmo, GoFundMe, and others, were discussed. Caitlin gave the Recreation Director Report. She gave the overall numbers of the programs and events attendees. Caitlin also went through some equipment that will be replaced for safety concerns, including old/damaged playground parts and new tennis nets. Scenic Strolls will start again on September 17, and the trunk-or-treat event, BoOoOrough Bash, will be held at Broad Commons on October 22. The dedication of the Van Hoof Basketball Court took place on August 28. The Witches’ Ride is happening next month, and sign-ups are almost full, and all the proceeds from the sign-up will directly benefit the Pump Track improvements. Old/New Business: Under the topic of new business, James spoke about the potential for the Farmer’s Market to relocate from its current location to Broad Commons. The Market would like volunteers to survey people at the Farmer’s Market regarding the location of the market and gain an overall understanding of the vendors and customers. There are a lot of mixed feelings from local business owners and merchants about moving the Market to a different part of town. At the same time, there are numerous benefits, including electricity and running water, among others. Patrick had questions about how residents and community members can provide feedback on the parks. He also wanted to discuss the option of installing a splash pad at one of the parks. James is concerned about the use of water due to the droughts that have been occurring in the area. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 8:01 pm. Respectfully Submitted by: Erika Fellman Parks and Recreation Minutes Secretary
