Park and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday, October 7, 2025 – 7:00 p.m. James Lannon, Gary Harris, Doreen McVaugh, Bob Huether, Patrick McCauley, Molly Crotty, Karissa Elser, Tucker Brennan, Council Member Dennis Livrone, and Caitlin Hernandez, Director of Parks and Recreation, were present. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. The minutes from the September 2, 2025, meeting were approved as submitted. Caitlin gave an update on the Booorough Bash planning. We “sold” out the event in one week and have over 300 children signed up. We have 16 vendors signed up. Caitlin will share the vendor list with the Board. We also have a volunteer to DJ at the event. The Board discussed the event layout and how the vehicle staging could flow more smoothly. James would like all the Board members to be present and volunteer for the event. Caitlin also gave the Farmer’s Market Update. The Market will not be moving to Broad Commons in 2026. This is an option for the future, but for now, it will remain where it has been on Hamilton Street and in the Plaza West parking lot. James thinks there are benefits to keeping the Market where it is, but also sees many benefits for moving it to Broad Commons and Borough Hall. Logistics and planning, as well as access to restrooms and electricity, are all under consideration for future Farmers’ Markets discussions. Caitlin shared a Concert Update. There will only be one fall concert, even though we fundraised for two. Due to inclement weather, the first spring concert opportunity will be offered to the band that could not attend this fall. We can continue to explore fundraising options through the winter. Caitlin gave the Recreation Director Report. Pavilion rentals have increased steadily throughout 2025 compared to 2024. Replacement parts for Burpee Park and Maplewood Park have been ordered. The tennis courts at Neis have new nets and anchors scheduled for installation this month. Public Works did a major cleanup in preparation for the fall softball season. Caitlin also gave an update on the Witches Ride, Saturday Chess, and Scenic Strolls. Old/New Business: Under the old business topic, the Board discussed ways to deter vandalism at the parks after they close at dusk. Also, under old business, Patrick asked whether there was an update on a spray ground or splash pad option. Infrastructure is a concern, as is consumption and usage. There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:33 pm. Respectfully Submitted by: Erika Fellman Parks and Recreation Minutes Secretary
