Borough of Doylestown Shade Tree Commission Minutes Wednesday, November 12, 2025 6:30 P.M. Commission members in attendance included Kayvon Tabatabai, Jean Weston, and Lisa Moscherosch. Also present were Borough Arborist Bob McMullin, Grant Rowe, Sustainability Coordinator, and Thomas O'Reilly, Doylestown Borough Junior Councilperson. Call to Order: Lisa Moscherosch called the meeting to order at 6:30pm Approval of Minutes: The October 2025 minutes were approved. (WESTON/TABATABAI) Subdivision/Land Development: None Tree Applications: 1. 220 E. Ashland Street, Robert & Dana Lansing, Property Owners. The homeowners were in attendance. The commission recommended approval and supported the replanting of a Saucer Magnolia. (MOSCHEROSCH/WESTON) 2. 164 E. Court Street, Nicholas Gray, Property Owner. The homeowner was in attendance. The commission recommended approval. (WESTON/TABATABAI) 3. 145 Mechanic Street, Nicholas Gray, Property Owner. The homeowner was in attendance. The commission recommended approval and suggested planting a small-to-medium tree in place of the Honeylocust. (MOSCHEROSCH/TABATABAI) 4. 57 East Street, Chris Dittmore, Property Owner. The commission recommended approval. (MOSCHEROSCH/TABATABAI) 5. 55 E. Court Street, County of Bucks, Property Owner. The commission recommended approval. (MOSCHEROSCH/TABATABAI) 6. 145 Shewell Avenue, Richard and Joanne Arculin, Property Owners. The homeowners were in attendance. The commission recommended approval. (TABATABAI/MOSCHEROSCH) 7. 68 Clemens Road, Raymond Gray and Susan Scott, Property Owners. The commission recommended approval. (MOSCHEROSCH/TABATABAI) 8. 359 Linden Avenue, Richard Heep, Property Owner. The commission recommended approval. (MOSCHEROSCH/TABATABAI) 9. 188 Green Street, Anne Biggs, Property Owner. The commission recommended denial on the basis that the tree appears salvageable and recommend that a certified arborist visit the tree and suggest pruning options. (MOSCHEROSCH/ WESTON) 10. 288 Green Street, Joe Cotellese, Property Owner. The homeowner was in attendance. The commission recommended approval and suggested replanting a native tree. (TABATABAI/MOSCHEROSCH). Old/New Business: 1. Update to Arbor Day & Street Tree planting initiatives. Grant shared an updated list of street trees and trees for Arbor Day. The committee amended the previous lists, adopting the lists below. (MOSCHEROSCH/WESTON) List of Street Trees Tree Selection Red Maple – Red Sunset, October Glory, Autumn Blaze Sugar Maple – Green Mountain, Legacy Swamp White Oak American Sycamore American Elm – Princeton Honeylocust – Skyline Sweetgum – Rotundiloba or Hapdell "Happidaze" Linden – American Sentry, Redmond Black Gum – Nyssa sylvatica '"Wildfire" Flowering Dogwood – Appalachian Snow Flowering Dogwood – Cherokee Princess List of Arbor Day Trees Tree Selection Cornus florida (Flowering Dogwood) Aronia melanocarpa (Black Chokeberry) Nyssa sylvatica (Black Gum) Cercis canadensis (Eastern Redbud) Acer saccharum (Sugar Maple) *Following the meeting, a few edits were made to the above list based on the Borough’s approved “Planting List” in Subdivision and Land Development. 2. The committee also approved a letter to be sent to chosen addresses for the street tree planting initiative. (MOSCHEROSCH/WESTON) Reports: 1. Chairperson Report. a. Lisa suggested sharing tree permits with the Shade Tree Commission earlier than the Friday before a meeting. Grant is looking into this. b. The Shade Tree Commission discussed the benefits of reviewing historical tree permit data, e.g. how many permits have they approved, what tree species are removed most often, and in what locations. Grant is looking to see what data is available. 2. Arborist’s Report. None. Public Comment. None. Adjournment. There will be no further business before the Shade Tree Commission.
