Farmers Market Association Board Meeting Minutes
Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 10:00 AM
City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs, Texas
I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL
COMMISSION:
Gouri Johannsen - Chair Claudia Oney Lori Broughton
Marianne Simmons - Vice Chair Charissa Giles Vacant
Teresa Strube - Secretary Vacant
Market Manager: Laurel Robertson
Chair Gouri Johannsen called the meeting to order at 10:10 and conducted roll call.
Board members present: Gouri Johannsen, Marianne Simmons, Claudia Oney, Lori Broughton, and Teresa
Strube. Market Manager Laurel Robertson was also present. Sara Gates was approved by City Council to join
Board.
II. PRESENTATION BY CITIZENS
Floor open to discussion on any subject. No action may be taken by law. Citizens wishing to speak shall do so
after being recognized by the Chair. The Chair may establish a time limit on each citizen wishing to speak.
III. MINUTES
Discuss and consider approval of minutes of the regular meetings of the Farmers Market Board on February 15,
2018.
Marianne moved to approve minutes for above meeting, and minutes for January 18 were not included in
documents; Teresa seconded; VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
IV. REPORTS
A. Parks and Community Services Report
Reviewed report.
B. Farmers Market Manager's Monthly Report - Laurel Robertson
Reviewed report. Laurel was appointed coordinator for Tomato Roundup activities. Discussed measuring
market sales and customers.
C. Fiscal Year 2018 Income Statement Monthly Report for month ending February 2018.
Reviewed income statement. No action.
V. MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
Discussion and possible action regarding:
A. Marketing and Public Relations Committee Report - Marianne Simmons
Discussion re: social media and upcoming events
B. Tomato Roundup Report - Laurel Robertson
Discussion re: changing event to series of events at Market. Subcommittee forming to handle this transition.
C. Farmers Market Metrics Webinar
Discussion re: program of metrics collection, organization and assessment. Marianne motioned that we
participate in program, join Coalition for $40, and collect data within our scope of need and benefit. Lori
volunteered to go through training course and report back to Board next meeting; Claudia seconded; VOTE: all
in favor, motion passed.
VI. MARKET VENUE
Discussion and possible action regarding:
A. TIRZ Board Meeting Report - Lori Broughton
Did not attend mtg.
VII. SPONSORSHIPS AND GRANTS SUBCOMMITTEE
Discussion and possible action regarding:
A. Sponsorship Activity
Tabled
B. Grants Activity
1. Capital Farm Credit $1000 Grant Application
Gouri reported on application and is confident it will be successful.
VIII. RULES AND REGULATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE
Discussion and possible action regarding:
A. Dripping Springs Farmers Market Rules and Regulations revisions update - Gouri Johannsen
City Council approved new Regulations, and they are now available on City website.
B. Important Market Rules revisions - Marianne Simmons
Revised document is approved and tied to Vendor Application on website.
IX. OTHER BUSINESS
Consideration and possible action regarding:
A. 2018 Vendor Orientation Social - Marianne Simmons, Gouri Johannsen
March 21 after market. Discussion re: agenda items at Vendor Orientation. Board members each chose food
item to bring. Gouri moved to set budget at $200; Marianne seconded; VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
B. Master Gardeners App Fee - Laurel Robertson
Discussed fee.
C. New Vendor Applications - Laurel Robertson
1. Bare Ash Inc
Marianne motioned to approve vendor; Gouri seconded; VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
2. Here’s LeBoef!
Laurel is to communicate with Vendor on Application issues re: offering fish.
3. Beach Craft by Hand
Need complete Application from Vendor.
4. Spicewood Food Co
Marianne motioned to deny entry to marketer; Gouri seconded; VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
D. The ALERRT system presentation - Teresa Strube
Discussion; tabled. To be presented at Orientation.
E. 2018 Vendor List for Inspection Scheduling
Tabled.
X. ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Regular City Council Meeting, March 20, 2018, 6:00 pm
B. Farmer's Market Board Meeting April 19, 2018, at 10:00 am

Lori moved to adjourn at 12:45; Claudia seconded; VOTE: all in favor, motion passed.
