Founder’s Day Commission
Monthly Meeting
September 5, 2013
Attending: A.J. Bergeron, Stephanie Holtzendorf, Les Kubena, Paul Sanchez,
Brenda Medcalf, Steve Fornier, Evan Taddia, Mark Treadway.
Absent: Brad Thomas, Jessica Freytag, Sharon Goss.
Call to Order: 6:40 pm by Brenda Medcalf
BUSINESS:
A. Overview of Mercer Street Improvement Project and Construction Plans
• Kevin Hoffman presented the map of the improvements that will be made to Mercer Street.
The map is located on the City’s website.
• Five foot sidewalks will be included in the improvements.
• Corners will have flagstone and lamp posts. Some corners will have benches to sit on.
• Parking spaces will be lined.
• Crosswalks will be marked.
• Landscaping will be done in phase II.
• Should be completed in February 2014
• Improvements will be made to the bridge area going to the carnival.
B. Possible modifications to Festival Site Plan
• There was discussion regarding modifications due to the sidewalks going in and improvements
to corners that will take up spaces that arts and crafts vendors have as well as cook off spaces
that will no longer be available.
• Arts and crafts vendors can be moved over to Wallace and Bluff streets.
• Commissioner parking will be re-located.
• Cook off spaces can be moved across from Wells Fargo bank where arts and crafts vendors were
last year.
• Meeting will need to be scheduled with the City regarding electricity needs for booths and cook
spaces that will be moved.
• Questions and concerns need to be emailed to Brenda so they can be addressed.
