Page 27 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in regular session, Monday, April 10, 2017 at 7:01. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Ray Carroll, Michael Barron, Craig Blackburn, Tom Mikkelsen, and Jennifer Hughey. The City Attorney was present. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to approve the minutes of the March 27, 2017 regular meeting. Motion carried with all ayes. Mayor's Report Mayor Younger said that the owner of 113 Lee Street was in the process of securing a buyer for the property. He also reported that department supervisors had their budget packets and that budget meetings would commence once the packets were returned to the City Recorder and the draft budget had been prepared. Department Reports Wastewater Superintendent William Caton asked the City Board to approve the purchase of a DMR QA kit and testing for recertification. The certification is undertaken every 5 years. The cost for the kit and testing is approximately $1,600.00. Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Tom Mikkelsen to approve up to $1,600.00 for a DMR QA kit and testing by Tech Labs or an equivalent lab. Motion carried with all ayes. Committee Reports Finance, Administration, and Personnel Committee chair Ray Carroll asked the members of the board to consider the municipal budget carefully and encouraged them to read an article in the TML Town & City newspaper about federal budget cuts, "Please give lots of consideration to what you read there." Street & Maintenance Committee Chair Tom Mikkelsen asked about the status of the ditches. Mayor Younger said that several ditches have been dug out and work is being completed based on a schedule/list. Work has commenced on South Main and they're moving north. Mikkelsen also asked about purchasing a truck; Street Supervisor Steven Tucker said Custom Ag Services has one with a 14' bed; he'll continue to research possible trucks. Mayor Younger suggested that the City evaluate the old "Ag Building" behind the Dyer Junior High; most of the repairs had been done, but some may remain. Steven Tucker said that McCurdy Sod has worked on the ballfields at the Park; he'll be done soon and they'll look much better.
