Page 83 The City of Dyer Board of Mayor and Alderpersons met in a special called meeting on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 4:50 PM. Those present were Mayor Chris Younger, Alderpersons Ray Carroll, Richard Reed, Craig Blackburn, Tom Mikkelsen, Jennifer Hughey, Michael Barron, and Robert Johnson. The City Attorney was not present. The purpose of the meeting was: 1. To Consider Purchase of Used Fire Truck, Including Trade-In of Existing Used Truck Mayor Younger reported that Dyer Fire Chief Ryan Shanklin went to look at the used truck. According to Shanklin, the dealer, M3 Fire Apparatus, will include some extra appliances including some intake valves; the total value of the additional parts is approximately $3,000.00. The Citywill purchase some additional adapters to make existing equipment work. Shanklin said the paint is about 2 years old. Due to this truck having a custom cab ("cab over"), additional driver training will be mandated for members of the fire department; there are already some firefighters on the department trained to drive a vehicle such as this. The vehicle has approximately 26,000 miles and about 2,000 engine hours. "It's as smooth as it can be," said Shanklin. Chief Shanklin believes this truck will last at least 10 years, "I know my neck's on the line for this." Motion made by Ray Carroll, seconded by Jennifer Hughey to purchase the used truck from M3 Fire Apparatus for $20,000.00 and trade in the 1985 engine. Alderman Fried ivie arrived at 5:10 PM. Motion carried with all ayes. With no other business properly before the board, motion made by Jennifer Hughey, seconded by Michael Barron that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried with all ayes. Nathan Reed, City Recorder
