Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meeting Tuesday, June 29, 2021 1. Call to Order: The board of Mayor and Aldermen met for a special called meeting at 2:00 p.m. at City Hall in the second-floor conference room. All board members were present with the exception of Alderwoman Meghan Gilbert and Alderman James Baltimore. Mayor John Holden presided. The meeting opened with a prayer by Alderwoman Mary Claire Hopper. 2. Approval of Minutes: Mayor Holden called for a motion to approve the minutes from the June 21, 2021 meeting. Alderman Willie Cole made a motion to approve the minutes and Alderwoman Vanedda Webb seconded the motion. All were in favor and the minutes were approved. 3, Unfinished Business: None 4. New Business: · A. Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes June 21, 2021- Chairman Ricky Hammond Committee chairperson, Ricky Hammond, gave a recap of previous committee meetings. The board reviewed the meeting minutes. No action was taken. B. Finance Committee Meeting Minutes - June 22, 2021- Chairman Edward Burks Committee chairperson, Edward Burks, gave a recap of previous committee meetings. The board reviewed the meeting minutes. No action was taken. C. Street/Sanitation Committee Meeting Minutes -June 22,2021- Chairwoman Mary Claire Hopper The committee chairperson, Mary Claire Hopper, gave a recap of previous committee meetings. The board reviewed the meeting minutes. No action was taken. D. Cemetery Committee Meeting Minutes -June 23, 2021- Chairwoman Meghan Gilbert The Cemetery Committee approved a motion to bid out surveying services for plots in the newly expanded portion of Fairview Cemetery. On Tuesday, Alderman Hammond motioned to approve the committee's recommendation with a second from Alderman Willie Cole. The motion passed unanimously. E. Finance Committee Meeting Minutes - June 28, 2021- Chairman Edward Burks The Finance Committee heard from City Sanitation Superintendent Greg Wilson who proposed a monthly rate increase of $15 for commercial dumpsters. Additionally, extra pickup would increase from $25 to $35.
