Public Hearing to Amend the Zoning District from A-1, Agricultural District to C-1, Commercial District on Lot 271 of the Original City of Dyersville Plat in the City of Dyersville, Dubuque County, Iowa. This property is located at 214 1st Street SW. Motion made by Council Member Gibbs to open Public Hearing Seconded by Council Member Westhoff. Voting Yea: Gibbs, Ostwinkle Silva, English, Oberbroeckling, Westhoff Nay: None Motion carried. John and Amanda Rankins, 407 13th Avenue SE, Dyersville, were present. John expressed that there are already how many offices around that are vacant. He feels the City wants it for green space and so the City should buy it. John has no intention of tearing the building down. He doesn’t understand why he can not do something with his own property and why is the city holding him up. Why is it such a problem for someone to open up a business? He stated that parking is not an issue. They do not want office space in the building they want it to be retail. Ordinance No. 853 to Reclassify Property as C-1 Commercial District located at Lot 271 of the Original City of Dyersville Plat in the City of Dyersville, Dubuque County, Iowa. First Reading Motion made by Council Member English to read Ordinance No. 853 Seconded by Council Member Gibbs.
