ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilman Casim Gomez Councilman Sammed R. Monk Councilwoman Amy Lewis Councilwoman Naiima H. Fauntleroy Councilwoman Alicia Holman Councilwoman Tameika Garrett- Ward Councilman Christopher Awe ( arrived at 6: 10 p. m.) Chairman Vernon Pullins, Jr. ABSENT: Councilman Bergson Leneus Councilman Christopher D. James The City Clerk determined there was a quorum and the meeting commenced at 6: 06 PM. ALSO PRESENT: Marlin Townes, Outside Attorney II. SALUTE TO THE FLAG III. SILENT PRAYER f; Chairman Pullins gave a moment of silence for former employee Richard Pisacane and all those who have passed. IV. SUNSHINE LAW STATEMENT THIS MEETING, WHICH CONFORMS WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THE OPEN PUBLIC MEETINGS LAW, CHAPTER 213, P. L. 1975, IS A SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING. NOTICES HAVE BEEN FILED WITH OUR OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER WITH THE CITY CLERK AND 1 POSTED ON THE REGULAR BULLETIN BOARD. THIS MEETING WILL BE CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY, STREAMING ON FACEBOOK LIVE AT FACEBOOK. COM/EOCITYCOUNCIL. RESIDENTS WERE ALLOWED TO SUBMIT WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS VIA EMAIL TO CITYCOUNCIL(&, EASTORANGE- NJ.GOV BY 5: 30 P.M. TO BE READ DURING THE OPEN HEARING OF THE. CITIZENS PORTION OF THE MEETING. REPORT OF COMMITTEES A. FINANCE Councilwoman Lewis motioned for an executive session on personal, litigation, and contractual agreements. Councilman Gomez seconded the motion. A roll call was taken: Aye: Councilman Gomez, Councilman Monk, Councilwoman Lewis, Councilwoman Fauntleroy, Councilwoman Holman, Councilwoman Garrett- Ward, Chairman Pullins Nay: None Abstain: None Absent: Councilman Leneus, Councilman Awe, Councilman James 7- Ayes, 0- Nays, 0- Abstentions, 3- Absent) Entered into Executive Session at 6: 08 p.m. Exited Executive Session at 10: 20 p. m. HEARING OF CITIZENS 1. Virginia Jeffries raised some important questions regarding the personnel matters to be discussed in the upcoming meeting. Specifically, she wanted clarification on whether the topics would include contract negotiations, layoffs, terminations, or any other related issues. Additionally, she inquired about where the agenda for this meeting is posted, as well as the reasoning behind the 2 numerous meetings scheduled recently. Lastly, she asked for information on when the special meeting that took place on October 23rd, 2024, officially adjourned. 2. Crystal Simons expressed her concerns about the potential talks regarding a state takeover of the entire school district and how it might affect her children. She wants to know if K- 12 schools would be implemented as part of this transition. With three children currently attending three separate schools, she emphasized that having. a school that can accommodate all three, regardless of their ages, would be beneficial for her family. XII.
