MINUTES Village of East Troy Airport Advisory Committee August 8, 2016 1. Call to order – Meeting called to order at 7:00pm by Ann Zess Present – Ann Zess, Chairperson, Walter Watkins, Airport Manager/FBO, Don Voland, Mike Starck, Sam Taber Also Present: Dale Graves, Charlie Christiansen, Matt Rybarczyk, Kim Weckerly 2. Citizen Participation – None 3. July 12, 2016 Minutes were approved by the committee on a motion by Don Voland and seconded by Mike Starck 4. Old Business: a. Airport Layout Plan update – Will be dependent on completed and approved final taxiway plans b. Update on Engineering plans for the 2016 taxiway asphalt project – Pre-bid meeting is set for Tuesday August 23rd. Phasing of the project is done in such a way that we will not be shut off from access. Bid Opening is September 8. Will get details from Andy regarding funding options at the pre bid meeting. c. Committee Review of Village code 176-17 – Table for now. d. Operations at 57C – Counting operations – Mike tested another camera to capture as many operations as possible with placement and pitch. We may need more than one. Mike will continue to test before making a recommendation. 5. New Business: a. YTD Rev/Expense report - Reviewed June and July revenue and expenses. Talked about the electricity expense in regard to the runway lights running off a huge transformer which could be part of the problem. We have used 90% of electrical budget as of July. The frequency used to turn on the lights is the same for airports around the area. Questions were discussed regarding is there a calibration to reduce the sensitivity of the sensor. Some pilots activated them during the day. Futuristically LEDs may be a good solution, however, very expensive to purchase. The Advisory Committee would like Jason to call Walter to set up a time to come out with a meter to see what the draw is when the lights are on and off. b. Update on Airport Open House – Plans are coming along. The High School FFA and Cheer leaders are helping in set up, take down and serving food.
