MINUTES Village of East Troy Airport Advisory Committee March 12, 2018 1. Call to order – Meeting called to order at 7:00pm by John Jacoby 2. Roll Call ‐ Present – John Jacoby, Walter Watkins, Don Voland, Sam Taber, Jim Stemper, Kim Weckerly, 3. Citizen Participation – • Question about beacon from February minutes. Walter answered by explaining upgrade to beacon to a high-intensity model. • Donny Mildebrandt - March 22 is an Airport Safety meeting at Kenosha airport. 10am at Gateway tech. 4. Motion to approve February minutes by Don. Seconded by Sam. 5. Old Business • Bid out for voltage drain on runway • Beacon repositioned. Walter is open to feedback about angle and future adjustments. 6. New Business: • Suggest wind tee decommissioning • Old wind tee has lights that do not work; LED bulbs burnt out. • Wind tee is surrounded by hangers (not very accurate) and not easy to maintain (due to corrosion and age.) • Sam uses wind tee, as it stands out well from the air. Asked if we can decommission the lighting only and using tee as day-time-only. AWOS has been inaccurate compared to tee & socks. • Don asked about relocating it. • Sam made a motion to research viability of ongoing maintenance of lighted wind tee, and possible decommission of lighting. Don seconded. • Don and Walter talked about lack of warning going through gates on taxiways. Don proposed that signage exists between the parking lot and taxiway, for public, delivery trucks, etc… Suggested verbiage I.E. “Taxiways are for authorized personnel only” at or on the gate. • Walter reminded about January item to address village ordinances. • John mentioned other signs needing replacement (faded, damaged, etc…) • Will add this to agenda for next month. 1.
