EAST TROY AIRPORT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES June 12, 2019 Page 1 of 2 Call Meeting to Order Roll Call: The meeting was called to order by Trustee Boyes at 7:00 p.m. Present: Walter Watkins, Sam Taber, JD Schreib and DPW Director Equitz Excused: Others: Citizen Participation No citizen participation. Approval Minutes – none Old Business 1. Feedback on the airport beacon - Discussion regarding feedback for the new and adjusted airport beacon. The new beacon is approximately 2 years old and a complaint had been made regarding the elevation angle of the beacon. DPW had made an adjustment to the angle and no additional complaints have been received. Additional feedback is still requested. New Business 1. Discuss Advisory Committee thoughts on 5 year plan for airport - The committee discussed the 5 year plan for the airport. The Hanger Expansion Project is foremost and should take precedence. Discussion was related on the need for additional hangers and that the State BOA is requiring the runway lighting to be updated prior to any additional work on the expansion project. It was noted the lighting project will be completed during 2019. It is hoped the expansion project will be pushed forward. During expansion discussion it was noted the Airport Layout Plan may need to be adjusted or reviewed and there was a discussion on can it be modified or will that be an additional cost. BOA should be contacted to see what is needed or can be done. Acquiring additional land for the airport should be considered, as budget allows. Check with BOA to see what could be done with unused land or land on airport that has been used for farming. 2. Discuss possible items for 2020 Airport budget - The committee discussed the 2020 Airport Budget. Cost for a crew car and the need for one. (See attached memo and policy to the board from JD Schreib). Will look into possible cost from leasing from local business. Discuss how to promote the Airport - The committee discussed the need for businesses to promote themselves and the airport. It is noted that airport is not known to have 12 plus businesses operation out of it by the general public. It was discussed how in the past the village hasn’t been to helpful at the airport and that needs to change. The airport needs to be seen as an asset by the public not just by those who utilize. A business sign was discussed to be placed in public view was an option as was the East Troy Chamber of Commerce and the East Troy Times.
