AGENDA Airport Advisory Committee 2085 HWY L - FBO April 8, 2019 6:30 PM 1. Call to order – Meeting called to order at 7:08pm by John Jacoby 2. Roll Call ‐ Present – John Jacoby, Walter Watkins, Sam Taber, Mike 3. Citizen Participation - o JD brought up the idea of having local businesses have a seat on the board, especially now that we have an official CDA. o Sue wants more big businesses in East Troy. She also thinks the airport should get rid of all of the equipment in the FBO building. 4. No previous minute approval because they were not included in the agenda packet for this meeting. In May, minutes for October, March, and April will need to be reviewed and approved individually. 5. Old Business: o Lighting system ▪ Walter says there is progress being made. Approved that it will happen this year. It will impact operations at the airport. Runways will be closed as a result, but impact will be minimized as much as possible. ▪ Proposal will go out for bids, opening June 20, with construction after the open house (August 10) ▪ Walter hoping for closures to keep at least the glass runway open or have the main runway open after the construction workday. ▪ Walter plans to keep in contact via email to keep everyone informed, including airmen. o Snow removal equipment storage ▪ Walter proposed to the village (regarding what would make the FBO more successful) having a building worth remodeling as a facility for a mechanical shop, flight school, avionics shop, etc... ▪ The current building is inadequate and needs repairs before it would be suitable for any of the above. ▪ If airport qualifies for funding for a new snow removal equipment building (possibly as a combined terminal building) ▪ It’s possible the sale of the FBO building could act as the villages %5 (compared to the state and federal %95) o Snow removal ▪ People are seeing vehicles parked (on the north side of the north hangers) in the aprons in the way where planes need to pass. 6. New Business: ▪ John’s last meeting ▪ Will attend the May meeting to help pass the torch ▪ Crew car ▪ Walter has a 2006 Ford Fusion but needs a new engine for $3500 ▪ Mike brought up the idea of having a local dealership sponsor a car ▪ Check with Rhode’s, preferably a mini-van that fits several people, they could wrap it for advertising, etc... ▪ Mike motioned that a proposal be created for review next month to submit to the village board to acquire an inexpensive (or donated) crew car, including a maintenance budget and insurance ▪ Sam seconded ▪ Motion carried ▪ Viability of south hanger expansion ▪ Best to do this after light project is finished, to avoid complications ▪ Summer event schedule ▪ August 10 Planes, Trains, and Automobiles ▪ Walter wanted to get a calendar of concerts at Alpine Valley 7. Motion to adjourn by John at 8:50pm. Seconded by Sam. o Monday May 13, 2019 at 7pm at 2085 HWY L - FBO o Submitted by: John Jacoby, Airport Advisory Committee Chairperson
