Board of Public Works Minutes August 19, 2020- 5:00 PM Remote meeting Board Members Present: Thomas Malsbury, Austin Sanders, David Fagnand Director of Public Works Present: Not present for meeting Board Clerk Present: Michelle Oliveira Public Present: ________________________________________________ __Virtual Open Meeting Language ● Pursuant to Governor Baker’s March 12, 2020 Order Suspending Certain Provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. chapter. 30A, subsection 18, and the Governor’s March 15, 2020 Order imposing strict limitation on the number of people that may gather in one place, this meeting of the Easthampton Board of Public Works will be conducted via remote participation ______________________________________________________________ The Meeting was called to order at __5:00__ p.m. by: Thomas Malsbury Seconded by: Austin Sanders Thomas Malsbury vote: yes Austin Sanders vote: yes David Fagnand vote: yes in flavor __ all _Motion carries 1. Public Speak: None 2. Mayor Speak: The Directors position was offered to Greg Nuttleman. Mayor was going to send to City Council for approval. It was brought to her attention that it had to go before the Board of Public Works to be approved. The Mayor asked that it be put on the agenda for the Boards next meeting September 2, 2020. Mayor was very happy with the DPW crews and how they stepped up and went above and beyond with the cleanup of the storm. She gotten nothing but complements on how they handle the cleanup. Motion to add the appointment of the Director of DPW to the September 2,2020 Board of Public Works meeting. Director’s Report It has been a busy couple weeks for the DPW. The Highway Division did an excellent job with cleaning up after Tropical Storm Isaias. The Water and Sewer Divisions have been busy assisting with the Maple Street construction work and school building project utility connections. We have put a contract in place with VHB for survey and design work on Main Street paving. We need to address failing sewer and drain structures on Main Street before the road can be milled and re-paved. I received a request from Williston to install a speed table and raised crosswalk on Park Street near their athletic center. Once city staff have finished reviewing the plans, I will submit the request to the Board of Public Works for final approval.
