City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointment Committee Meeting Minutes: May 27, 2021 Councilor Rothschild called the meeting to order at 3:30pm Members Present: Councilor Lindsey Rothschild, Councilor Erica Flood Also in Attendance: Daniel Hartman Approval of Minutes: Unable to approve due to lack of quorum Public Speak Time: No comments from the public. Mayoral Appointments: NAME POSITION/BOARD TERM EXPIRES Daniel Hartman Planning Board Dec. 31, 2023 Daniel states he sent a letter of interest and full application to Jeff Bagg, City Planner. Councilor Rothschild requested he forward that to each of us so we can review it live. Has lived here for 8 years and is a proud citizen of Easthampton. Would be excited to share his skills and help shape the city. He wants to do something with purpose, this would be productive with his time and would help leave a mark. Wants to make a positive contribution. Chris Cockshaw is his mentor and had suggested this would be a good fit for Daniel. Daniel has a civil engineering background. Has a BA and MA in Civil Engineering, MA specifically in traffic. He could weigh in on this topic without effort. He is a licensed professional engineer. He feels he is a decent communicator – a skill which helps share his ideas. Experience working with teams. Feels he has a voice for millenial and Gen Z generations to bring balance to the board. Councilor Rothschild posed follow up question re:pedestrian traffic and safety. Daniel states he could speak to this topic and make suggestions. Current engagement with community: Daniel goes to many social events, is a big supporter of Cultural Chaos and the arts events. Is a big supporter of local businesses. Avid runner and trail runner around town daily and through Nonotuck Park. Daniel tries to bring people in to the city as much as possible – including running groups and mountain biking. Motion to recommend Daniel Hartman to the Planning Board with term expiring Dec. 31, 2023 (Flood) Second (Rothschild) Unanimously passes 2-0 Motion to adjourn (Flood) Second (Rothschild).
