City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointment Committee Minutes March 23, 2023 Members present: Councilor Riley, Councilor Gomez Members absent: Councilor Meunier Also in Attendance: Merriam Ansara Meeting called to order by Councilor Riley at 6:15 pm Public Speak Time: none Approval of the previous minutes: March 1, 2023 Motion By Councilor Gomez seconded by councilor Riley Voted was 2-0 on favor New Business: NAME POSITION / BOARD /TERM EXPIRES Merriam Ansara Community Relations Committee Dec. 31, 2024 Motion made by councilor Gomez seconded by councilor Riley Voted was 2-0 on favor Councilor Riley stated that he knows Merriam for the work she is being doing for the community. Merriam move to Easthampton in 2006, she talked to the committee about how she is against war. Merriam stated that she is involve in the community a lot because she believes is need it and she enjoyed working on the community. Councilor Riley how she will be a good ad for the CRC . She stated that she’s being working with community organizations and believe everyone should be welcome at our community. She was a huge part of the Welcoming trust ordinance. She spends a lot of time in another country, and she want a be at the CRC to heard everyone in our community and made them feel welcome. Is important for her to heard everybody voice. Merriam want a be transparent on the committee and bring her expertise to the committee. Merriam works a lot with the Easthampton community coalition, and she want to bring to the CRC what she was doing with them. Voted was 2-0 on favor Motion to adjourn by Councilor Gomez and second by councilor Riley Voted was 2-0 on favor Meeting adjourns at 6:42pm Meeting was at room #2
