City Council - Appointment Committee

Appointments Committee Meeting In-person meeting at 50 Payson Ave., 2nd floor Small Conference Room Meeting Minutes: Oct 12th, 2023 Councilor Riley called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm. Members Present: Chair Councilor Riley, Councilor Gomez , Councilor Meunier Also in Attendance: Daniel Zdonek, Nancy Stenberg Approval of Minutes: Motion made by Councilor Meunier seconded by Councilor Gomez to approve the minutes of September 28, 2023 Vote was 2-0-1 Public Speak Time: No members of the public present to speak. New Business: ● Mayoral Appointment: Name Board/Committee Term Expiration Daniel Zdonek Board of Assessors Dec. 31, 2026 Dan have 40 years of assessing experience , Dan was previous chair board of assessor in Easthampton , he have 33 years working in Hadley as assessor , Dan explain how the assessors use the technology and how important is for assessing the properties , he also stated to the committee that is important for him to help the community with his knowledge and that's why he applied for the position on the board of assessors. Motion was made by councilor Meunier and seconded by councilor Gomez , voted was 3-0 on favor of the appointment Nancy Stenberg Public Library Assoc. of Easthampton Dec. 31, 2024 Nancy stated to the committee that she previously served at the CPA committee in Easthampton , she has 18 years of experience as librarian ,Nancy has experience writing grants and she already participated in meetings discussing the potential new location of the library in Easthampton. Motion was made by councilor Meunier and seconded by councilor Gomez , voted was 3-0 on favor of the appointment Mayoral Re- Appointment: Name Board/Committee Term Expiration BJ Church Building Commissioner Dec. 31, 2026 Barbara LaBombard Charity Funds Committee Dec. 31, 2026 Mark Tanner City Solicitor Dec. 31, 2024 Cynthia Tarail COA Director Dec. 31, 2026 Jeff Bagg Commission on Disability Dec. 31, 2026 Jeff Bagg Director of Planning & Comm. Dev. Dec. 31, 2026 Emily Russo Human Resources Director Dec. 31, 2026 John Mason Main St. Cemetery Commission Dec. 31, 2026 Nicole LaChapelle Main St. Cemetery Commission Dec. 31, 2026 Barbara LaBombard Manhan Rail Trail Committee Dec. 31, 2026 Nicole LaChapelle School Building Committee Dec. 31, 2026 Christopher Norris School Building Committee Dec. 31, 2026 The committee recommended to the full council the re appointment of all of these people based on the fact that they are currently doing a good job. Motion was made by councilor Meunier and seconded by councilor Gomez , voted was 3-0 on favor of the re-appointments Next regular meeting: TBD A motion to adjourned was made by Councilor Meunier and seconded by Councilor Gomez unanimously voted that this meeting adjourn.
