Ordinance Committee 1/21/2020 17:30 Room 1 This meeting was video recorded Members present: Salem Derby, Owen Zaret, Tom Peake Meeting called to order There was no public speak Minutes from 12/10/2019 were approved 2-0 with councilor Peake abstaining Engine breaks Chair Derby read a letter from Fire Chief Mottor describing some potential challenges from the proposal. He requested that the mountain be excluded. Discussion was continues with suggestion of creating a limited, or pilot area to start. The area around Florence road, in particular was recommended. How the ordinance would be enforced was discussed. Councilor Zaret suggested input from the trucking industry. Councilor Peake asked about the public safety ramifications. Councilor Derby suggested including language for emergencies. Continued to next meeting Open container The ordinance was read through in its entirety. Points of discussion were defining all public spaces in Easthampton as well as clarifying buildings as public spaces.
