REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, January 06, 2026, at 7:30 PM
Town Hall- 307 E. Kennedy Blvd.

CALL TO ORDER AND VERIFICATION OF QUORUM:
Mayor Gardner called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m. and a quorum was established by Mrs. King
PRESENT: (5) Mayor Angie Gardner, Vice Mayor Theo Washington, Councilwoman Wanda Randolph,
Councilman Tarus Mack, Councilwoman Ladwyana Jordan
STAFF: (5) Marlin Daniels, Chief Administrative Officer; Veronica King, Town Clerk, Clifford Shepard
(on zoom), Town Attorney, Valerie Mundy, Public Works Director Chief Murray, EPD
INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE:
Vice Mayor Theo Washington led the Invocation in a Moment of Silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance
APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA
Mayor Gardner Motions to APPROVE Agenda with amendments (Adding proclamation/presentation to
the Cole family and moving item #3 Approval and Authorization to Proceed with Prefabricated Buildings
to Meet DOJ Requirements to council decision); Moved by Councilwoman Randolph; Second by Councilman
Mack; AYE: ALL, MOTION PASSES, 5/0.
PROCLAMATION/PRESENTATION: The town read a proclamation from the Mayor's office honoring the
late and former Mayor Eddie Cole; a memorial gavel plague with table name block was presented to the family.
Pictures were taken. Comments/Notes: Mayor Gardner dedicated an empty mayor's seat decorated in honor of
Mayor Cole; Alex Cole (Mayor Cole's son) provided comments.
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION -(6 members from the community offered comments; Carl Washington, Joyce
Irby, Victor McCall (yielded time to Joyce Irby), Angela Thomas, Ruthi Critton, Angela Johnson
CONSENT AGENDA:
Mayor Gardner Motions to APPROVE Consent Agenda (Items #1 and #2 Only) approving Town Council
Meeting Minutes (December 2, 2025), Resolution 2026-2 appointing one (1) individual to the Historic
Preservation Board; Moved by Vice Mayor Washington; Second by Councilman Mack; AYE: ALL, MOTION
PASSES, 5/0.
COUNCIL DECISIONS:
Approval the Authorization to Proceed with Prefabricated Buildings to Meet DOJ Requirements Mayor Gardner
