V. RESOLUTION AND ORDINANCE
November 14, 2024 City Council | Minutes Page 1 of 3
A. Review and approval of the Elko City Election held on November 5, 2024, and its results,
including the adoption of Resolution 21-24, and matters related thereto. FOR POSSIBLE
ACTION
After the November 5, 2024 General City Election the election returns were filed with the
City Clerk thereafter, pursuant to NRS 293C.387 (2) a scheduled City Council meeting, the
City Clerk will present the returns from the precincts and districts in the City to the City
Council, the governing body of the City, and the City Council must meet with the Mayor to
canvass the returns to the election on or before the 10th day following an affected election
after the canvass is completed, the governing body of the City and Mayor shall declare the
results of the canvass AR
Mayor Keener invited Annette Robinson, City Clerk, to speak.
Ms. Robinson said thank you, Mr. Mayor, council members. I received the votes from the County
Clerk stating that Marissa Lostra and Claire Morris were the winners of our City Council race. The
very first page is the full election results, then the second page is each precinct broken down for all
those results (see minutes packet). If we agree with these results, then this resolution can pass.
Council Member Simons noted there was an 80% voter turnout.
Mayor Keener asked if there was anything that surprised Ms. Robinson with the results.
Ms. Robinson said not really. Based on her experience working the election at the Convention Center,
she had a lot of people that weren’t aware they needed to pick two candidates before they could move
forward on their voting machine.
Mayor Keener asked Ms. Robinson if she knew what the voter turnout was in 2020.
Ms. Robinson responded she did not.
Mayor Keener stated everything looks good and in order. He asked if anyone had any questions or
comments on the precinct tallies.
There were no further questions or comments.
** A motion was made by Council Member Simons, seconded by Council Member Stone to
approve the Elko City election held on November 5th, 2024 and its results, including the adoption
of Resolution 21-24.
The motion passed unanimously. (5-0)
