Board
Charles (BOT) Eric Schmidt,
3. Approval of Agenda – moved by Sarah and approved by group
4. Approval of minutes – not submitted, will be at the next meeting.
5. Public Comment on Non-Agenda Items –
• Alan Wise - Wise property getting painted. They are considering
moving a barn to a new location. Possible grant money to assist in the
saving of the barn. It is too close to the road, barn is also filled with old
farm equipment that needs a place to live. There is also items saved
from the mill that was demolished.
•
6. Old Business –
• Methodist Church was inspected. Key items found. Severe bowing
on the North and South walls, the bell has caused this issue. Some dry
rot, some plexiglass covering ornate stained-glass windows, drainage.
All items were reported to the BOT, to then send to the church.
• Still waiting on trim painting at town hall.
• Dave Lotten’s property gets a pass A+ condition.
• City Hall and Town Hall to be surveyed on Saturday 7/6 9:00
• No candidates have applied for EHPAB. Social Media might be an
option to advertise an internship. Perhaps the Longmont preservation
board has suggestions.
•
•
7. New Business –
• Jessica, Autumn, Melvin –
• Budget report – need to pay for memberships. The budget looks good
through the remainder of the year. Next update in October.
• We need to set a date to review the changes on Briggs street.
Saturday meeting. 7/13/2019 9:00-11:30. Evaluate buildings for survey
opportunities.
• Activity planning for the town fair next year. Games, SWAG – Tracy
to chair?
• The town fair generated questions about two properties. Sarah called
the clerks office to find out about the Carbon street home. Home on Main
street was built in 1927. Rachel Davis estate. All the information she
found is now in the hands of the homeowners.
•
8. Events calendar –

11. Other Business –
• Possibly add a tax to the residents to support the preservation of
historical properties in Erie.
• Need to meet with the Urban Renewal group to discuss EHAPB’s goal
of designating a Historical District.
• Town Achieves – how to make them accessible to everyone? We
have handwritten documents that date back to the 1870’s. CU has offered
to help digitize for the Town of Erie, to preserve the documents for us in a
rare book achieve at the university. A grant can take care of the cost for
EHPAB. Any timeframe works for CU. We would like to look at a contract
prior to committing to the process.
• The town has financial records from the 1920’s and 1930’s, along with
Lincoln School records. EHPAB would need to pay a different company to
achieve this information.
• Cemetery preservation has its challenges because Erie’s is still
operational. Mapping the cemetery is a start. We would need to hire a
company to do this. A full week to map the cemetery with ground
penetrating radar. There are a lot of unmarked graves. The town will
tackle this project. EPHAB needs to construct a letter to the BOT to get
this project approved.
• Old Town permit requests are booming!
