Also curious about water conservation. Curious about addressing methane in the atmosphere. Mike Shettleroe – Interested in water and landscaping. Member Reports Budget Update (JP or Tom) We expect to have budget left over because we don’t plan to purchase compost bins, we expect to need more money than we thought for Earth Week. We can potentially purchase some items for Earth Week 2020 to have posters/event information available. We will likely have $3-4K to be able to use. We should make that part of the Earth Week. We should potentially have a school contest to create posters. We should get a metal stand thingy. Earth day stickers. Spin wheel and prizes – reusable straws. Giveaway red wrigglers. We should review the budget. JP and Tom will take this action. Communications Update (Berenice) – Brainstorm on poster development. We should get ideas generated and funding spent before the end of December. Met with Amber, she can help with posting, but need to send in advance. Leaf composting and seminar. Open house event flier has already been shared. Erie won a bronze level for ELP. Community businesses challenging each other to be more sustainable. Perhaps work with chamber to do a green business competition. Update on EV, Composting and Zero Waste proposals to Town – Tom EV - Town purchased 1st EV. Next year will likely have a 2nd and 3rd vehicle. Town set aside budget of approximately $46k for charging stations. Composting, we’ve discussed a community composting center, but the challenge is the process takes a lot of space. Challenge is contamination. This is at least 2 years out. Potentially look at doing a proof of concept at the Leon Whurl Service Center. Think distributed, not centralized. We will keep this as an action item, though it should be included in the Master Plan. Zero Waste – Issue is people, town does not have staff to do this. We would rather continue to hire eco-cycle. Issue is volunteers. Could not find any details if there are any fees. It sounds like all you have to do is indicate you have a planned event and you can be designated. We should recommend a proclamation, perhaps unveiling the master plan. Would like to create a committee. Do we want Solar Days to be part of or separate from Earth Week? Solar home tour could be part of Earth Week, though perhaps we want Solar Days to be separate so that it’s not commercialized. Solar days will be separate. Monali, Anna and Tom will be on Earth Week planning committee. Leaf Composting Update Dates have been finalized. Berenice is working on communications. Tom is working on food for the event. We need signs/boards. Mike Magill will be helping and will be putting up the fence. October 28 there will be a seminar organized by Boulder County at the library about composting. Volunteers needed and sign up genius would be good – 9 to 12 and 12 to 3. Berenice to work with Amber to advertise the sign up/call for volunteers.
