APPROVED:3/3/2016 City Hall City of Eustis, Florida 10 North Grove Street Post Office Drawer 68 Eustis, FL 32727-0068 Meeting Minutes - Final* City Commission Workshop Thursday, February 18, 2016 5:30PM City Hall CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Holland ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF QUORUM AND PROPER NOTICE Present: 5- Linda Bob; Bill Brett; Carla Gnann-Thompson ; Karen LeHeup-Smith ; and Michael Holland I. Sign in of persons in attendance. Fred Fox, Fred Fox Enterprises, explained he would be passing around two sign-in sheets one for the Fair Housing Workshop and one for the CDBG public hearing. He asked everyone in attendance to please sign both sheets. II. Distribution of the Fair Housing Work Shop packages. Mr. Fox announced he had copies of the Federal Fair Housing Act information available for interested parties. 16032 Fair Housing Workshop Mr. Fox explained the workshop was the first step in applying for the COB grant and the City would receive points on their application for holding the workshop. He then reviewed the history of the Federal Fair Housing Act and explained the Act prohibits discrimination due to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status and physical or mental disability. He reviewed the definition of fair housing under federal, state and local laws and what type of housing is not covered by the act. He cited what conduct is prohibited under the Act. III. Discussion of complaint procedures for fair housing violations. Mr. Fox explained how to file a complaint if someone thinks their rights have been violated. He provided the agency and address for filing the complaint and information regarding the Florida Commission on Human Relations. He reviewed the procedure that would be followed in responding to a complaint. IV. Question(s) I Answer(s). Mr. Fox opened the floor to questions at 5:36p.m. No one came forward at that time. V.
