Chair Cameron-Behee called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. followed by introduction of commissioners and visitors. CITIZEN COMMENTS None. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS Commissioner Ramstad stated that the Everett Museum expects to close on their building soon. A publicity campaign will follow after the New Year. Commissioner Fox circulated a draft of the Riverside Historic Walk brochure. Commissioner Tucker provided information on a holiday party for Historic Everett. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Commissioner O’Donnell made one correction regarding Aileen Langhans’ new book. Commissioner Anderson moved to approve the October 24, 2017 minutes as corrected. Motion seconded by Commissioner Ramstad. Motion passed unanimously. ADDITIONS TO AGENDA None. COMMISSION MEMBERSHIP Assistant Planner Landry introduced Bob Leonard with the Parks Department. Assistant Parks Director Leonard discussed the Tree Committee, a subcommittee under the Board of Parks Commissioners, and its terms to have one sitting Historical Page 1 of 3 Commissioner. He appealed to the Commission for volunteers to fill the Historical Commission liaison position on the Tree Committee. Membership is a 6-year term. Commissioner Hall stated he would be interested in discussing the position further. Commissioner Hall and Assistant Parks Director Leonard to follow up outside of the meeting. Assistant Planner Landry continued discussion on the upcoming membership terms for the Historical Commission. Chair Cameron-Behee and Steve Fox’s terms end at the end of the year. Planning staff conducted interviews and sent recommendations to re- appoint sitting members to City Administrative Staff. Both members, if re-appointed, will not be eligible for consecutive re-appointment. Planning Manager Stalheim provided information on term length. Assistant Planner Landry stated that voting on officers will be conducted in January and opened the floor for nominations. Commissioner Ramstad nominated Commissioner Hunter for Chair. Commissioner Anderson nominated Commissioner White for Vice-Chair. Chair Cameron Behee nominated Commissioner Tucker for Vice-Chair. Commissioner Hall inquired about alternate position terms. Planning Manager Stalheim stated that alternate positions are not automatically appointed for sitting membership terms unless they apply to do so. Nominations closed during meeting. Additional appointments to be via email if needed. DAHP/Revitalize Washington Recovery Support Function Questionnaire Commissioner Hall picked up discussion from September 26, 2017 meeting and a brief background for the DAHP/Revitalize Washington presentation that triggered the questionnaire. Focus for questionnaire responses is how to best respond and coordinate activities to preserve historical structures following an environmental disaster. Discussion ensued between Commissioners. Planning Manager Stalheim discussed Planning staff touching base on historical involvement with the current emergency preparedness plan. Commissioner Hall collected responses for the questionnaire and will send them back to DAHP. 2018 WORK PLAN Assistant Planner Landry presented the 2018 Work Plan proposed. Commissioners had no changes to propose. Commissioner Ramstad stated that he would bring back the plaques found by the Museum for further discussion regarding the Historical Register Plaques work item. He also inquired about landmark designation process for Everett. Page 2 of 3 Commissioner Fox inquired about the recent additions to the Everett Register and plaques for those two properties. Assistant Planner Landry will follow up on Register plaques. Commissioner Tucker asked about the 2017 Work Plan and accomplishments for the year. Assistant Planner Landry will bring 2017 accomplishments for the 2018 January meeting. ADDITIONAL AGENDA ITEMS No additional items to discuss. PROJECT UPDATES Assistant Planner Landry updated the Commission on the following: • Mayor’s Holiday Reception – invitations sent for Commissioners to attend. • Mill Town Trail – two signs have been installed, remaining to be finished before year end. • CLG Walking Tour – staff have had an internal meeting on resources, brainstorming with other city departments. Next steps will focus on content and possible tour location points. • 2103 Virginia Ave. – permit plans are being reviewed by Permit Staff. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Future agenda items officer elections, orientation, and work plan tasks. OTHER BUSINESS There was no other business. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Ramstad moved to adjourn the meeting.
