Everett Historical Commission Meeting Summary November 29, 2022 Commissioners Staff Guest Amelia Hieb, Chair Alex Byrd Lolly Huggins Arnold Morrison, Vice Chair Yorik Stevens-Wajda Lisa Phillips Steve Fox Becky McCrary Wilma Jones Madison Vazquez Ben Zarlingo Linda Stern Andrea Tucker Ashli Bush The meeting convened at 6:30 pm with a roll call of Commissioners. Acceptance of Agenda Vice Chair Morrison made a motion to accept the November 29, 2022, agenda, it was seconded by Commissioner Tucker, and approved unanimously. Citizen comments (for items not on tonight’s agenda) There were no citizen comments for items not on the agenda. Approval of October Meeting Summary Vice Chair Morrison made a motion to approve the October 25, 2022, meeting summary. Commissioner Vazquez seconded and it was approved unanimously. Clark Park Gazebo Project Lolly Huggins, Capital Projects Coordinator with the City of Everett Park’s Department, presented the Clark Park Gazebo project to the commission. This project is not required to be reviewed by the historical commission, but Lolly wanted to bring the project to the commission to get their input. Lolly presented four concept drawings and the commission provided feedback on the designs. Lolly stated she will work with the architect to put together one more design based on the commission’s feedback. The project will come back to the commission at a future meeting for an informal design review. Process review of 2115 and 2117 Grand Ave Yorik Stevens-Wajda, Planning Director, attended the meeting to give a process review of the 2115 and 2117 Grand Ave project. At the October 25, 2022, meeting, the historical commission made a recommendation to the Planning Director to disapprove the design of the new multi-family structure and deny the demolition of the contributing structure at 2115 Grand Ave. Yorik explained the process that took place after the October 25th meeting and how staff reached a conclusion on the decision after reviewing the project in detail. The Planning Director Decision, approving the design and demolition of the contributing structure, was issued on October 31, 2022. 2022 Work Plan Update This item was postponed to the January 24, 2023, meeting due to time constraints. 1 Next Meeting (date and subject) The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. The commission will not be meeting in December. Staff and Commissioner Comments Becky McCrary gave a brief update on the Comprehensive Plan project. Chair Hieb reminded the commission that this is her last meeting as the Chair and that a new Chair and Vice Chair will need to be appointed at the beginning of the January meeting. This is also the last meeting for Commissioner Fox and Commissioner Tucker. A recording of the full meeting is available upon request. 2
