City of Excelsior Hennepin County, Minnesota Minutes Heritage Preservation Commission Special Meeting Tuesday, November 17, 2022, 6:30 p.m. 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL Acting Chair O’Hanlon called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Other Commissioners Present: Bolles, Caron, Brattland (by phone) Commissioners Absent: Noll Also Present: Julia Mullin, Community Development Director Brian Duggan, 5(a) applicant 2. AGENDA APPROVAL Caron moved to approve as presented, Bolles seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 3. CONSENT AGENDA 4. CITIZEN REPORTS OR COMMENTS 5. NEW BUSINESS a) Site Alteration Permit Application – 361 George Street (HPC No. 22-24) The request was to paint a sign on the rear of the building that included the name of the business occupying the structure and the business’s logo. Bolles moved to deny, Brattland seconded. Motion passed 4-0. b) Appointment of Member Caron to 106 Center Street Working Group Caron explained that Council has requested an HPC member for the working group. Brattland moved to appoint Caron, Bolles seconded. Motion passed 4-0. c) Cemetery Committee Mullin explained that an improvement committee has been formed for the cemetery. Because of the historic identity of the cemetery, an HPC member is desired to participate. Brattland was nominated and accepted. Bolles moved to appoint Brattland, Caron seconded. Motion passed unanimously. 6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 7. COMMUNICATIONS and REPORTS a) Next City Council Meeting – November 21, 2022 b) Next HPC Meeting – November 29, 2022 c) Other Updates  Mullin discussed the future of City Hall and the proposed development. Possible future locations for City offices were discussed. 8. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Updated from the events subcommittee. 9.
