City of Excelsior Hennepin County, Minnesota Minutes Park and Recreation Commission Tuesday, February 13, 2018 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: Chair Wolfe called the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. Commissioners present: Wolfe, Mullenbach, Sobiech, Rogney, Wahlstedt and Berghorst. Commissioners Absent: Honzl Also present: Public Works Superintendent Amundsen 2. AGENDA APPROVAL Berghorst moved, Mullenbach seconded, to add Item 6(a) Endow a Tree Partnership with Community for The Commons, and approve the agenda as amended. Motion carried 6/0. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM, JANUARY 9, 2018 Mullenbach moved, Wahlstedt seconded, to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried 6/0. 4. CITIZEN REPORTS OR COMMENTS a) None 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a) None 6. NEW BUSINESS a) Endow A Tree with Community for The Commons Chair Wolfe briefed the board on an interest with Community for The Commons to partner for an endowment program. The program would help offset maintenance to existing trees or to plant new trees in trust. Community for The Commons is looking for a Board member to assist in a drafting of possible options/outline to present to City Council at a date to be determined. Chair Wolfe is to discuss time commitment and review at March meeting for interest. Minutes Park and Recreation Commission February 13, 2017 Page 2 of 2 7. VERBAL REPORTS FOR DISCUSSION a) Partnership with Historical Society for Electrical boxes and ticket booths. Discussed no action taken. b) The Commons Master Planning Chair Wolfe briefed the Board on the final proposal by the design firms that was adopted by the City Council for review. c) Eagle Scout Projects Amundsen will keep information on the raised beds as a possibility for a later date. 8. UPDATES/INFORMATION (a) Ballpark Maintenance: Discussed, no action taken. (b) Community Garden Committee Report: Discussed, no action taken. (c) Concerts in the Park: Discussed, no action taken.
