City of Excelsior Hennepin County, Minnesota Minutes Park and Recreation Commission Tuesday, October 15, 2019 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL at 6:15 p.m. Commissioners present: Chair Wolfe, Sobiech, Schott, Rogney and Wahlstedt. Commissioners absent: Galow Also present: Public Works Superintendent Tim Amundsen. Karen Schott was sworn in by Mayor Carlson at 6:17PM. Introductions to other members followed. 2. AGENDA APPROVAL Commissioner Wahlstedt moved, Commissioner Sobiech seconded, to approve the agenda as presented, Carries 5/0. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a) None. 4. CITIZEN REPORTS OR COMMENTS a) None. 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a) None 6. NEW BUSINESS a) Ice Rink Discussion Resident Jennifer Yerhot, 126 Courtland, addressed the Park and Recreation Commission regarding a proposal for community skating rinks at The Commons. The ice rinks discussed were proposed to be placed on the infield of the ballfield. Jennifer provided information on the location, materials to build the ice rink, and potential costs depending upon the scope of the project. The Commission discussed the potential maintenance costs, implications to the current budget and 2020 budget, and layout and operations. The Park and Recreation Commission determined that a small committee of Jennifer Yerhot, Commissioner Rogney, and Superintendent Amundsen would meet to discuss and develop the details for setting up and Ice Rink at The Commons. b) Mooring Policy Review The Commission reviewed the mooring policy per City Council direction. The Commission addressed potential language changes within the actual mooring policy.
