BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS The regular meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals was held on December 3, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Building located at 500 Quincy Street. President Richard Wood called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS Present Absent President Richard Wood Board Member Joe Manchin Board Member John Six Board Member Aron Majic Board Member Ray Friend City Staff Present City Planner Mark Miller Recording Secretary Maria Cipolla APPROVAL OF MINUTES President Richard Wood asked for a motion to approve the minutes from November 5, 2015. Board Member Friend motioned to approve the minutes. Board Member Six seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0. PUBLIC HEARINGS FOR December 3, 2015 1. Steven Messinger is requesting a conditional use to open and operate an automotive accessories business at 700 Fairmont Avenue (Tax Map 03-05, Parcel 1). President Richard Wood asked for a staff report from City Planner, Mark Miller. Mark Miller explained the applicable codes and said that staff supports this request with the contingency that the applicant not be allow to store materials and equipment in the front yard area along Fairmont Avenue and Seventh Street. President Richard Wood asked if there was anyone to speak in favor of this request. There were none. President Richard Wood asked if there was anyone else to speak in against this. There were none. Page 1 of 2 President Wood asked if there was a motion to close the public hearing. Board Member Six motioned to approve the request. Board Member Friend seconded the motion. Motion carried 3-0 The Board and Mark Miller briefly discussed the request. President Wood asked if there was a motion for or against this request. Board Member Friend motioned to approve the request with the contingency that it is stated in the resolution that there will be no front yard storage separate from the day-to-day course of business due to the layout of the property. Board Member Six seconded the motion Motion carried 3-0 DISPOSITION OF PAST CASES There were none. OTHER BUSINESS Mark Miller informed the Board that he will be leaving the position of City Planner as of December 11 th and that this will be his last BZA meeting. President Wood informed the Board that he will not be returning to the Board once his term is up in January. This will be his last meeting if we find a replacement by January’s meeting.
