FAIRMONT PLANNING COMMISSION
The regular meeting of the Fairmont Planning Commission was held on November 18, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Public
Safety Building located at 500 Quincy Street.
President William Oliver called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and asked for a roll call of members.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM October 21, 2015
President Oliver asked for a motion to approve the minutes.
Commissioner Weber motioned to approve minutes.
Commissioner Richardson seconded.
Motion carried 6-0.

PUBLIC HEARINGS TO SET FOR December 16, 2015

1. Blanche Rowan is requesting a rezoning of her property along Suncrest Avenue, Tax Map 06-07 Parcels 116
and 117, from Neighborhood Mixed Use to Industrial.
President Oliver asked if there was anyone to speak in favor of this request.
Blanche Rowan told the Commissioners that her granddaughter, Kareen Davisson, sent a letter to Circle K asking them
to let her know where they stood on being rezoned. She has not received a response from Circle K. She also tried calling
the District Manager but he has not called her back.
President Oliver asked if there was anybody else to speak for this request.
Tony Veltri said, it would be a positive business for Fairmont. As a deputy in this county for over 10 years and a
supervisor at the Sheriff’s department, he has only had a couple of calls to a storage unit. It was not for drugs as stated
in the previous hearing but for theft.

President Oliver asked if there was anybody else to speak for this request.
There were none.
President Oliver asked if there was anyone to speak against this request.
Earl Martin said he was withdrawing his objection to Mrs. Rowan’s request for rezoning to that he entered in last
month’s hearing. They had met after last month’s meeting and worked it out. He also thanked Commissioners Weber
and Richardson for coming out to the site, looking it over, and speaking with them.
President Oliver said, thank you. It is great to see neighbors get together and communicate.
President Oliver asked if there was anybody else here this evening to speak against this request.
There were none.
Commissioner Weber added, I applaud the neighbors for solving their problems among themselves. When we went out
there on November 6 for about two hours, we talked to him and walk the area. As a City Council member, I have a
responsibility to make sure we say something about the potholes, sign issues, and water run-off problems that need to
be addressed along Morgantown Avenue and Suncrest Blvd. I will bring this up at the next council meeting.
President Oliver asked if there was a motion to set.
Commissioner Parker motioned to set.
Commissioner Weber seconded the motion.

Commissioner Comments:
Commissioner Weber said Houston and I had a good time going out to see Mrs. Rowan’s property. The area has been
neglected for a while. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and enjoy your weekend.
Commissioner Richardson said, I saw their property and their problems. They had already worked out their differences
before we got out there.
Commissioner Majic said he was pleased to see the neighbors work it out. It was impressive.
Commissioner Pitman said, Happy Thanksgiving.
Commissioner Parker said Happy Thanks giving to everyone. He also discussed how he would like to see the meeting
minutes in a true form of minutes instead of a transcript of what everyone has said.
The Commissioners and City Planner, Mark Miller discussed this matter and how the minutes will be handled going
forward.
Mark Miller said we are going through some changes since Kathy left. If you have any questions, please give me a call or
stop by the office. I definitely want your thoughts. It is very important that we communicate throughout the month.
