Architectural Advisory Board Council Chambers April 3, 2013 Meeting called to order 7:47 PM 1. Roll Call: Mr. Fritsch, Mr. Way, Mrs. Volpicelli, Mrs. Friedlander, Mr. Earley were present. 2. Petitions: There were no petitions. 3. Consent Items: There were no consent items. 4. Other business: There was no other business. 5. Old Business: There was no old business. 6. New Business: a. AAB #2012-1040 (255 & 301 W. Broad Street by Rushmark Properties for proposed special exception and conceptual development plans.) The board heard comments from city staff and a presentation by the applicant. Following discussion, Mr. Way made a motion that the city accept the exception application with the following recommendations: a.i. Incorporate appropriate way finding for vehicles entering the garage from Annandale Road. a.ii. Consider a pedestrian link among the berm buffer to connect residences to Broad Street without having to travel through the property garage. a.iii. Resolve the building corner over truck exit on to Broad Street. a.iv. Consider further development of the elevation of the residential facade beyond the main entrance of Harris Teeter to be more unique compared to the other taller elements. The motion was seconded by Mr. Earley and unanimously approved. b. AAB #2013-0184 (300 Hunton Avenue by Green Invicta, LLC for proposed Site Plan Amendment and Building Addition for proposed Easter Seals facility.) Ms. Friedlander stated for the record that due to conflict of interest, she recused herself from this agenda item. The board heard comments from city staff and a presentation by the applicant. Following discussion, Mr. Earley made a motion that the application be accepted as submitted. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Volpicelli and unanimously approved. 7. Minutes: Review of minutes was tabled until the May meeting. 8. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 10:18 PM
