Arts and Humanities Council of Falls Church Meeting
May 19, 2016
Falls Church City Hall Dogwood Room
Minutes / Notes
Members Present: Barb Cram, Sally Cole, Laura Hull, Marybeth Connelly, Lindy
Hockenberry, Ellen Gross, Nikki Graves Henderson, Midge Wang,
Officials Present: Corey Jannicelli, Letty Hardi (City Council Liaison)
Also Present: Keith Thurston (non-voting TLCC Foundation)
The meeting was called to order with a quorum present by Barb Cram at 9:30 am.
The minutes were reviewed.
Updates: Barb Cram provided an update on a variety of activities including the banner
program and the hanging flowers being refreshed in the downtown area.
Strategic Plan Action Item Updates
The committees reported updates to actions items from the Strategic Plan (developed earlier
this year with the assistance by Moira Lethbridge, Executive Management Consultant, of
Lethbridge and Associates.) with group leaders reporting on progress for each of 4 goals.
Logo
The majority of the meeting focused on the down-select of the logo being developed. Barb
Cram reported that work with graphic designer Bryce Rodgers proceeds and that he has made
the modifications requested by the AHC from the last meeting. The AHC reviewed each
choice and made comments of preferences and adjustments they would like to see. As the
discussion narrowed to a few options a vote was taken to establish the key options that are still
in consideration. Those options were noted and the final designs for those two will be brought
back to AHC at the June meeting for final selection.
Staff and Member Updates
Corey Jannicelli state that we needed to move to the election of a Chair and Vice Chair and
adopt Rules Procedure for the AHC. Members should consider this for the next meeting.
Marybeth Connelly reported that the inventory of AHC (CATCH) events with dates for press
releases needs to be updated so the AHC activities can be appropriately celebrated.
Keith Thurston (TLCCF) stated that the grant reimbursement request are due in for both
project and operations grants. For clarity please title the documentation the exact same as the
City Council passed the approval of the grant funds last year.
The Tinner Hill Blues Festival is scheduled to be on the regular weekend this year which is the
second full weekend in June (June 11 and 12, 2016)
The next meeting will be June 16, 2016.
Respectfully Submitted: Keith Thurston
