Minutes
Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Laura Hull, Ellen Gross, Letty Hardi, Sally Cole, Ed
Henderson, Barb Cram participated (cell phone)
Guests: Keith Thurston, Rosemary Ziskind
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair Laura Hull at 9:33 am.
Minutes:
Meeting minutes for December 2017 were approved however minutes from January 2018 were
not approved as edits were requested by Barb Cram. A&H Council will need to vote on the
January minutes next month.
TLCCF Report:
Reminder: Submission for partial reimbursement for Arts & Humanities Grants is
allowed. A final report is still required once the grant project has been completed.
Monthly Action Plans:
Grant Funding
o Critical need identified is funding and grant writing experience
o Sally offered to assist with future grant writing
o Grant suggestions – PNC and Target grants as sources of funding
Joint Marketing Plan
o Reminder that events can be posted on the chamber website
o Next group press release scheduled for April- send programs to Marybeth
Public Art
o Barb is working with Jim Snyder on potential public art location near Northside
Social.
o Arts Stops -Public Art for Bus Stops is being coordinated by Falls Church Arts
A&H Council will be part of jurying submissions
o Falls Church Arts is sponsoring a temporary public art project in Howard E
Herman Park installed when completed late Spring or early Summer

o Future public art idea- painting art covered city owned utility boxes were
suggested as the easiest target vs. VDOT and Dominion Power, etc.
Action Items:
Keith will share list of boxes with dimensions and locations
Sally & Letty volunteer to join A&H public art team
Group Recommends commissioning our local artists like
Rajendra K.C. to paint box near say the Farmer’s Market,
Planning and Development Update:
Park & Lee – Condo project with a live/work concept
Orange Theory and Target opening next month off of S. Washington and S. Maple
Municipal Park- bids came in high, new RFP was requested with recommendations for
lowering the costs and /or removal of some of the element in the previous RFP. The
new bids are scheduled to be open in Sept
Adjourn
Meeting was adjourned by at 10:35 by Sally Cole and second by Laura Hull
Next Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 15 at 9:30 am at Falls Church Arts Gallery
