Minutes
Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Barb Cram, Sally Cole, Laura Hull, Nikki Henderson,
Marybeth Connelly, Letty Hardi, Ellen Gross, Rosemary Ziskind, Ron Anzalone
Student Representative: None
Guests: None
The meeting was called to order by Barb Cram at 9:38 am.
Minutes:
Meeting minutes from September were approved with correction on next meeting date
Development Update:
Founders Row - demolition for will start this fall
Broad & Washington- Insight Property is still committed to the project and Creative
Cauldron is in conversations about a lease extension at their current location
Downtown Plaza – EDA voted down current plans and is looking at scaled down option
Old Business:
Affordable Living Policy
o Arts & Humanities Council recommends that special consideration be
considered for people working in the arts (theatre, music, artist) in the City’s
Affordable Housing Lottery
o We need to support the creative economy
Civil War Trails Meeting
o Will be scheduled for January
Heritage Days Meeting
o The term Heritage Days will be an umbrella name for Falls Church cultural
programs in the city to help with promotion of these events.
Examples of current programs that would be considered a Heritage
Day include the Tinner Hill Blues Festival, Arbor Day, and Women’s
History Walk.

o Final list of events will be determined based on a set of guidelines
o Group plans to reconvene to discuss common language and branding elements
o Recommendation was made to bring the Churches into the conversation.
Public Art Policy
o Current draft of the policy was distributed and electric copies were requested
o The final policy should be no more than 4 pages
o Policy should cover:
what is public art and why
actions steps to take for future public art projects
New Business:
VPIS to host a panel on Parking in Falls Church (Nov 11)
Roundtable:
Victorian Society hosts Halloween Literary Evening on Fri Oct 26 and A Very
Victorian Christmas on Sat Nov 24
Friends of Cherry Hill host Chocolate and Tea on Sun Oct 28
Chambers participates in proclamation for #livelocalFC encouraging business &
residence to spend 40% of shopping locally
THHF shared the Henderson House is now a GeoCashing location
Schools Drama Club performs Chicago Nov 15-17 and High School Art Show will take
place at FCA this spring
Creative Cauldron’s Nevermore will continue through Oct 28 followed by Peter Pan,
Madeline’s Christmas and new Christmas Caberete
Christmas Tree lighting will take place the last Monday of Nov (26)
FCA Academy has been a big success

Meeting was adjourned by at 11:10 am
Next Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 15 at 9:30 am at Falls Church Arts
