Minutes
Members Present: Corey Jannicelli, Rosemary Ziskind, Letty Hardi, Barb Cram, Marybeth
Connelly, Ed Henderson, Ron Anzalone, Sally Cole, Irene Chambers
Guests: Keith Thurston (CATCH Foundation), Ellen Selby (Creative Cauldron)
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Barb Cram at 9:37 am.
Officers Elected: Barb Cram was elected as Chair and Laura Hull was elected as Vice Chair
Minutes: Meeting Minutes from November was approved with edits as requested
TLCCF Report:
Watch Night
o The event had good weather and strong turnout with about half attendees local
residence
o Not all the sponsors were the same this year but came close to fundraising goals
and had some funds left over from last year to help cover costs
o Looking for more local bands, recommendations welcome
o Added Cherry Hill Sing-along to this year’s program, thanks to the Victorian
Society at Falls Church and Cherry Hill Farmhouse
Development Update:
West Falls Church Project
o On schedule to submit site plan
Library
o City Council received an update on the project last Monday
o Project is currently projected to be 2.5 million above budget and negotiations
are still in process.
Broad and S. Washington
o No immediate actions at this time
o Legal questions have been raised about whether the city can sell the parking
lot behind Clare & Dons
Founders Row
o Monthly meetings with residence have been changed to quarterly moving
forward.
Parking Study
o New study will count current available parking in the City along with
recommendations on future needs will be paid for by the EDA
Wayfinding

o EDA is working on the design for new City wayfinding and a list of signs to
be updated
o VPIS and Chambers organizations should expect an update on the project
o Street banners are not currently included in this wayfinding project
Old Business:
Heritage Days
o Submit event description with dates and times to Barb Cram for general 2020
calendar by January 31
o Website and printed marketing will be completed next month
Public Art Policy Guidelines and Arts & Cultural District
o Department of Community Planning & Economic Development Services
submitted a proposal for UVA Class to research and recommend a Arts &
Cultural District Map and the proposal was approved
o The Class will meet with City Staff next Friday January 24
Traffic Boxes
o We have permission to move forward with finishing the installation of the
traffic box on the corner of Park Ave and Little Falls St
o Corey will review how much funding is currently available for future Traffic
Boxes based on previous Falls Church Arts grant

Adopt the Arts & Cultural District Map

o Recommendations helpful for City Council Retreat
o A&H Council members should bring additional goals for this group to the
February meeting
o Barb will share previous goals from 2015
Roundtable:
January 20 – 4th Annual Martin Luther King Day March and Commemoration
Program from 9 am to 1 pm starting at the Tinner Hill Civil Rights Monument and
ending at the Falls Church
January 4 to February 2 - Passport to the World of Music at Creative Cauldron
February 13 – March 8 – Crowns at Creative Cauldron
February 4 – Wayfinding Sign meeting
February 9 – Valentine’s Day Tea at Cherry Hill Farmhouse
February 22- Girl Scout Day, Playing the Past at Cherry Hill Farmhouse
January 21 – Luncheon with Amy Clay talking about how goals & values should
relate to work life at Clare & Dons
January 28 – Chamber mixer at El Patron from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
February 2 – League of Women’s Voter 100th Birthday Party at Falls Church
Episcopal from 3 pm to 5 pm with Victorian Society members present in Suffragette

January 16 – Book Talk: The Capital of Basketball: A History of DC Area High
School Hoops, by John McNamara, with Andrea Chamblee and David Elfin. DC
