MEETING MINUTES
07/11/2023
PURPOSE OF MEETING: The Aurora House Citizens’ Advisory Committee provides
consultation to the Aurora House Manager regarding community resources and public
awareness; advises the City Council and Arlington County Board of Aurora House's needs,
budget, and services; and serves as community liaison through area organizations, civic groups,
and other boards and commissions.

Approval of Minutes: May 9, 2023, Meeting Minutes approved.
Group Home Manager’s Report:
Utilization remains at 6 but Aurora House will soon have 8.
1 successful discharge last month and will have 1 this week.
Department of Juvenile Justice Monitoring visit planned for August 22nd.
Discussed scholarship for 1 applicant.

Reported scholarship balances.
Olom-Porzel College Scholarship Fund Reports:
Applicant is employed. The application is put together well. Full amount requested is
approved.
Committee members are open to reassessing an increase the amount of money awarded
for scholarships. Historically, the maximum amount awarded has been $2,000.
Scholarships Fund Balance Reports:
Approximately $20K between both accounts.
New Business:
Mr. Strobach reported that Argus House is currently at 9 and he would like to get them
back to full capacity at 12.
Argus House does not have an Advisory Committee but there have been discussions
about changing that.
Ms. Jones reported that Ms. Kindell was able to take some, much needed, time off.
Ms. Jones reported that the City has received opioid funds for substance use training and
substance abuse related items.
Dr. Bracey participated in a Marcus Alert (mental health crisis or need) to assist the
FCPD. Dr. Bracey also participated in CIT Training.
